OK!!! This is getting way too technical for me:confused:! Here is my question: If i get a S/C and headers and want a good deep rumble (growl whatever you want to call it) without all the spatty sounds of a 4 inch exhaust pipe on a Z-71 and with the dual exhaust (or just the look) with gains in efficientness (wd?) within the mid to med-high range, what kind of set up should I go for? I plan on taking my truck on pretty long trips soon and want good cruising paower without giving up too much in town!?!? Any ideas? Sorry i cant contribute to the teaching lesson at hand!

Sorry for the necropost but found the original post here quite useful. I'm deciding whether or not to replace my muffler with a Flowmaster (Pro or a 50 series since I don't need the loud rattly sound of the noisier models). My MPGs are dismal in a brand new truck because I have to drive up the Rocky Mountain front range as part of my daily commute. As I understood from the original post the performance and fuel efficiency on the uphill drive (high load) would be improved by the more open restriction of an aftermarket exhaust?
Would this have a negative effect on acceleration on flat land (lower load) then?
    Thanks for the input

The owner of my go to muffler shop (has done my last 2 mopar vehicles) Recomemded an 18" magnaflow exhaust swap for my 2017 Taco. He said good sound and not rediculous. I mentioned MBRP and his response was "raspy"..

As for flowmaster. That's what I had installed in my 2014 Charger RT (full cat back w/ 40 series) and my 2015 Ram 1500 cc Big Horn (full cat back w/ 10 series). The 40 series was kinda loud but was replaced by a full Corsa system by my buddy who bought it (the 40 and catback was rusted out pretty bad after about 2 years) The 10 series was rediculous loud, I liked it but it got real old when that stupid MDS kicked in and I'm sure my neighbors hated me.

Well anyways, does anyone have the 18" Magnaflow on their 3rd Gen Taco? Any good, and how's the sound? I was quoted $225 for the muffler swap, they said they have to add a little piping? Is this ok, or rip off? Like I said they did my last 2 vehicles, so would think they would give me a decent price. I can currently buy the MBRP onAuto anything with a discount for less than $200 shipped!! I've read all the threads on MBRP and it seems just like anything some love it, some think it sounds like trash.

Except for your year model. It is on the market already for your truck.
