I get crap up here in the PNW for calling them 4pt or the like. You are supposed to call them 2x2 ;) but for me thats reserved for elk...I still call the deer by points

We call the one in the pic a forky :) I just was curious if he was going to break a state record or just knock down a 4x.

Just joking around. With mule deer you typically only count one side so one with 8 points would be referred to as a 4x (pronounced four by) unless the two sides have different amounts of points then it would be referred to as a 4x3 as an example. In the end it doesn't matter as long as you are having fun and respecting the animal(s).

Haha well I appreciate any and all info I can get on the subject. Hopefully I'll get that 4x we spotted last week. (See I'm learning!!!)

Don't forget with or without brow tines. Not all mulies have them, but it sure is nice to throw it in when they do.

    <---Like that 4X4 with brow tines :)

I know of people that have. Dont expect a blood trail cuz i doubt you'll have an exit hole. Remington makes reduced recoil loads for the .308 and it has a 125 gr pill and a little less powder. I would say it would put you in. 243 recoil territory and they say at 100 yard POI is within an inch

Got skunked opening weekend for muleys and whitetail, been stomping around locally for blacktail. One more chance for mule deer this weekend then it's blacktail or bust.

Yeah. Lots of people use the .223. Correct bullet and shot placement. Quite a few factory loads if you dont reload that use the TSX, partition, or other bonded bullets.

I said doesnt "want" to buy a new gun, but what i meant was right now that may not be the best option because everyone wants a new gun

I've heard a 223/5.56 with the right bullet would work. In my state I think the minimum caliber is .24 though.
