I bought myself a new toy today. I've been a fan of Smith and Wesson's M&P series for a long time, and I'd been meaning to buy a new full-size handgun for a while so I picked this guy up.
M&P 2.0, 9mm, 5" barrel. Taking her to the range first thing tomorrow morning!

I've really been wanting one of those since I picked one up and looked at it a while back. Let us know how it shoots.

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
One thing I always hated is the S&W M&P hinge trigger. So I decided to buy and install the M&P Shield Aluminum Action Enhancement Trigger & Duty/Carry Kit. Fairly easy job if you have a rear sight tool. Instead of the supplied trigger spring, I opted to keep the factory trigger return spring. Will report back after I range test it. I get that this isn’t for everyone considering the price of these trigger kits compared to a price of a new Shield:

So I just got home from the range and the grocery store and I am happy to report that she shoots like a dream. The extra bit of weight from the 5" barrel definitely helps to mitigate muzzle flip and felt recoil. My only gripe is that the sights were a bit off to the left from the factory. Nothing a little adjustment can't fix.

As for the factory trigger on the 2.0, I got lucky as was able to compare a factory trigger to an Apex trigger at the range (Apex actually had a table set up at my local Shooter's World). Honestly, while the Apex trigger is still much better overall, the 2.0 triggers are a hell of a lot better than the ones they used in the first gen M&P's. Clean break, consistent as you could ask for in a trigger, and the hinging in the trigger is a lot less pronounced in the second-gen triggers. I'd say it's better to the extent where picking up an Apex trigger kit has basically fallen pretty low on the priority list for this handgun.

Looking forward to your range report. I'm wanting to install one of those kits myself.

I've had an FNX 45 tactical for a while, I've never tried to carry it, as I'm not over-fond of buying pants 2 sizes too big, or untucked button downs. I saw that Cabelas was having a sale on Trijicon RMRs for $350 and decided to go crazy. I got a dual-illuminated Trijicon RMR (6.5 MOA dot, both LED and fiber optic illumination), and an MK-Tek paddle holster with the cutout for the sight.

Look for the trigger for the 2022 on their website. I do like the trigger on the 2022 except for the length of pull in DA...most reports I have read say that the length of pull is quite a bit shorter with the new trigger. I have yet to install mine...hopefully this weekend. For $35, it’s worth a try.
