They are very heavy. They're a cut and chip resistant tire. Meant for heavy off road use. Reviews have been great so far. In my opinion to much tire for a tacoma but they are made to be bullet proof

Thanks for the reply man, I had kinda heard the same things. I ended up going with them and so far am happy. For a mud terrain they are extremely quiet on the road and don't follow all the grooves in the asphalt.

They look meaty, not a fan of the sidewall though.

I like the sidewall, it's different from most other aggressive tires on the market

Looks great man! Yes they are studdable. They are made by dean tire, who is a manufacturer if Cooper and mastercraft. Back country makes an AT, HT, and just brought in the MT, all very similar to the Cooper line of products

Hey man any chance you can update your post with a quick review of these tires? How do they handle in snow? Good wear? Would you buy again? Thanks for any info!

Love them! I’ve got 5k on them so far and they are wearing really well. The snow was great with them this year. If you live where it gets icy a lot, I’d recommend siping them. They’ve got a lot of surface area and would do better that way. As far as buying again, I definitely would. They seem to be a great tire

I ran the ST Maxx E rated 285/75/16's for a little while. All total I had three sidewall punctures within a month. One of them was a stick that I slid sideways and hit in soft sand, which was about the width of my thumb and near rotten. It might've just been bad luck, but I can't throw another one on after so many back to back failures on an E-rated tire.

No punctures since switching to Nitto Trail Grapplers, but they are also M/T's so probably not a fair comparison.

Thanks for the info. I like the Schwab warranty a lot, they do tend to charge a premium for their tires though!

They charge a lot, but like you said you can’t beat the warranty and service. I’ll pay extra any day for that!!

Considering picking these up myself for a spring-fall tire (running a dedicated snow for the icy months). Good to see all you Idaho folks on here - I live up in McCall.

What the heck did you do to them? I've ran those tires all over the country from the SE to where I am out west, and I've only had one puncture, from a roofing tack in my driveway. You are the first person I've ever heard with a sidewall puncture, or more than one. I tried Duratracs for about 8 months, still trying to sell those things. That's a tire I don't understand the love affair with.

I should say, I've put over 100k miles on ST Maxx with just the one flat.

Two were high speed turns just south of death valley and rock punctures from sliding into them. The stick was at Coyote Dry Lake just south of Fort Irwin. It was a hill climb that ended at a sand bowl up top and I carried a bunch of speed so I could swing around the rim and come back down without getting buried. Put half a dozen plugs and a tube of rubber cement and made it all the way to Barstow and grabbed some Duratracs. No punctures with them but switched to the Nitto's in 35's a few weeks later.

Half the folks on here wheel with a sway bar, tc, abs, and 50 psi at a crawl. I'm not saying you do, but it would explain why we don't hear a lot of tire complaints.
