    Yupp, I do use it that way. I was just overthinking a plan to install an antena in a semi-permanent way (somewhere, somehow), and having a radio like Jerry's-because it's a tiny bit smaller, installed in center console... oh well

    Yes, it's an awesome versitale little radio! I just had something on my mind with use of that Cobra... I'm also using a magnetic base, because I couldn't commit to a proper mounting location... but my antennas kept on getting knocked over, so I'll have to figure a place for it.
    Anywas, :threadjacked: away from @Grand dude 's inquiry , by my silly overthinking.

    There is a small box that the antenna plugs into like 1"x 3" I put it behind the glove box. Magnetic base antenna that I take on and off when I wheel.eorks great for me

    Depends on what you decide to do, that's one of those cables.

    Removable 'screw on/off' PL-259 connector on one end.
    Allows you to drill a smaller size hole to pull the wire into the cab.

    Some cables have pre-installed big connectors, so you'd have to drill a hefty hole to run it into the cab.

    Some have a solder on connector, if you're into that kind of thing

    @Grand dude

    I apologize, I don't mean to make this more difficult... Just, when I copy a link from Amazon, it includes all that info.

    With that being said, decide what do you need a CB for.... And do you want the radio and the antenna to be mounted permanently, and where.
    That might narrow down your options.

    Edit: it looks like there might be more antenna mounting options for 2nd GEN than 3rd. That's why I have a bit of a dilemma...

    It's on my bed rack now.
    Before it was on a piece of 1.5 in steel angle mounted to the bed rail. I ran a 10 gauge wire from the mount to the frame for a ground.

    @Grand dude I brought mine up through a rubber plug so I didn’t have to “drill” into the cab..

    Same 18 ft should be enough to get you from back of bed to center console area. Try to get a cable with stranded core.
