Anyone know how the Subaru Crosstrek is as far as winter weather driving/handling ? I heard their AWD is excellent for it but that’s just what I hear . Anyone have one ? (Besides your taco) , looking into one for my gf . How is their dependability . Does someone have a better suggestion ?

I have a couple friends that have them and they love them so far one has had hers over a year or so the other got his in May. I had a POS AWD Imprezza and that thing raped in the snow and mud had nothing but street tires on it.

Supposedly the salesman says that the crosstrek is built on a Impreza drivetrain and frame just higher ground clearance than the Imprezza

I would believe that, I had no problems with mine it was just a 97 so it was rusting like a mother and it was red...I hate red haha. Subaru is the only sedan I would ever buy.

    This.

150hp, CVT, AWD. Got to be unstoppable in snow. The 2018 version is supposed to be a completely new box with a lot of new stuff, so I might wait a year to see how it plays out. Or pick up a 2017 for a bargain.

Wife drives a forester. Awesome in the snow. It's hard to get them sideways in the snow, unless you really try. My Impreza wouldn't get sideways with normal driving until I yanked the parking brake.

I havent been there since it blew down. Used to walk on the rails all the way across.

Havent been there in 4 years, its turned into too much of a tourist trap. We used to go camping at big elk lick every year. We'd get up early in the morning and go see the elk while they were eating/moving around/active. Then we'd go back to camp and eat/sleep during the heat of the day while the elk would dissapear or sit and chew their cud while the crowds showed up. The crowds would ooh and aww over them as they pretty much did nothing. Then once the crowds left, the elk would become active again and we'd go look at them before sundown. But, most of the time they were right in our camp ground so we didnt have to go very far.

The same shit everyone else has.
I was in Benezette 2 weeks ago camping at Medix run and it was the typical circus it usually is. People stopped all over 555 taking pictures and shit. I like driving up all the back roads looking for elk.

Snapped this on Hick's Run road.

^Basically this. Theres a ton of other things to see too. I spent a TON of time up there camping, fishing, and hunting.

What are your goals? Sight seeing? Hiking? Hunting? Fishing? Just relaxing?

Theres so much to see and do in ANF and surrounding towns.

Benezette is kinda a haul from ANF depending on where youre at. If you wanted to go to Benezette, Id recommend making a day out of it and camping closer. There is a nice, free camp ground in Elk State forest and dispersed motorized sites in Moshannan State Forest just south of Benezette.

ANF is rather large, where do you plan on being? ANF stretches from the Clarion river to almost the NY border.

Do you wanna camp in a camp ground or dispersed motorized site?

Message me or post on here and I can help ya out with whatever your looking for.

Do you know what trim? She got a base since heated seats and mirrors weren't worth the cost to her, the other big thing that goes from base to premium is fog lights. I figure if she wants them I can just wire in pods for $200 that'll be much better than the factory ones anyway. Apple car play/android auto is standard on all of them, and if she wants the CVT x-mode is standard too.

A lot of car reviewers say it's dog shit slow but honestly I don't think so. But I've been driving my truck for 9 years and don't drive her car any differently. I could see if you're use to driving v8 luxury sedans then yea a 152hp car isn't going to feel fast. But they aren't getting 35+ mpg on the highway either.

But yea, the 2018s are built on the global platform. It was first introduced for 2017 Imprezas and now it's used for the crosstrek. Their 7 seater suv is going to be based on the platform too.

I wanted her to compare a VW Alltrack but the closest vw dealer is like a hour away compared to Subaru which is 10 min.
