I actually use both, lol. Nikon at home and for freelance work but at my full-time gig they're all Canon (and a Hasselblad). I play both sides

Only thing that's annoying about it is that all the standard controls are reversed between Nikon/Canon (have to scroll opposite ways to make adjustments). It's like they did it on purpose as a small way to keep their customers loyal

yeah its a nice camera, I like it a lot. However this is the second mirror i've gone through. I'm sure its my fault but every photo has like fuzz imprints on it and its a bitch to have to edit them all. I think i'm going to just find a camera shop and have it cleaned and a new mirror put in cause I don't know what I'm doing ahaha

I was going to say, if it's just dust on the sensor/mirror those DIY sensor cleaning kits are easy to use, I use them at work often. Although I will admit, I fucked up once and scratched the glass filter that covers the sensor on our Hasselblad a couple years ago. That was an expensive fix....

Fortunately the company I work for covered it, lol. We had to ship it out to Switzerland because that's where their HQ is

With so many camera experts in here , I have around 2k and want something good. I have a friend who is going to give some some photoshop software and I want to dabble in it a little. Maybe take a course online. I was thinking cannon but I’m new to taking pics just like I’m new to mall crawling

Mirrorless if you're more into video and/or want a really 'quiet' camera. I prefer DSLRs because they offer a wider variety of lenses, which is where the real quality in photos comes into play (quality glass makes a bigger difference than any other variable IMO).

That lens you had on this weekend was bitching. I'm sure it also costs a thousand bucks though lol

haha thanks, it's a pretty standard 24-70mm but it's a fast 2.8 lens and Nikon brand so it was something like $1800 if I remember right. I actually need to get it fixed or replaced soon, I've had it for probably 8 years and it's taken a beating especially over the last couple of years going on my offroading trips with me. My camera too

I have a fixed 50mm 1.8, great lens for the money. I have a 1.4 too which is hardly much faster but another couple hundred more. What I find crazy is if you go slightly faster to the Canon f/1.2 lens, it's something like $1300 bucks lol. But the bokeh on that lens is insane. Focus on a person's nose and their eyes go way out of focus lol.

Hmm I didn't consider Canon for mirrorless. Was only looking at Sony, primarily at their A7 line up but those are out of my budget which led to the a6000.

Thats what I'm also debating, I was looking at the canon 16-35mm f/2.8 or something comparable to replace the 24mm f/2.8 I have on the t3i. But, also figured if I'm spending the money, might as well sell the t3i and try out the Sony.

Find a Canon AE-1 on eBay and learn how to use OG settings to take good photos. Then you don’t need photoshop.
