What did you do to exhaust after high-clearance rear install?

Just wondering what you guys did to exhaust after high-clearance rear install? I need to move mine up and over, or totally relocated/shortened.

Chopped it right after the axle. No sound difference, won't mess with any emissions. Hit it with some high temp black spray paint.

 

Yup, just dump it behind the axle like that ^^^

same as above but I placed my oem exhaust tip back on just for a finished look... i'll snap a picture later tonight

 

Could probably cut it a little higher even in case you stall in deep water

 

You guys arnt worried about fumes coming in while stopped at lights ect idling into the cab?

 

This is what I did too. And I don’t have high clearance.

 

That is my concern. I have dogs in the bed, under a topper.
Gathering parts to make my own cat-back. Ill take it from the y-pipe, to small muffler, over frame rail and out the fender, in front of the rear tire. Look doable.
Only found a couple others that have done it, no much detail given.

 

If your dogs get monoxide poisoning you’re leaving them in the truck too long.... and idling too long. Really shouldn’t be an issue I wouldn’t think.

Plus I believe, and could be wrong, the multiple cat converters on modern vehicles help neutralize some of that crap.

 

That's like, your opinion, man.
I drive my dogs all over the country. Meaning many hours in the back of the truck.
I'd rather avoid it if possible. Not worth it to me.
Plus how cool would it be to have a bedside exit exhaust?!

 

Gotta rig it to shoot flames out the side, otherwise you aren't using the idea to its full potential!

 

I've got my exhaust cut just past rear axle.....

We also have 3 dogs (and 6 birds) They get treated as if they were our kids. Dogs to a degree, and birds to a much greater degree are vulnerable to toxic fumes. Much more so than humans......I would not run the risk of their lives based on an unproven theory.

I would provide positive ventelation, cut exhaust or not. And a CO detector to boot.

I don't idle my truck. And I don't drive slow either.

 

Bedside exhaust doesn't work in the off-road world. One look at all the scrapes on my sliders will tell you that.

And I've touched up paint under my bumper enough times that I know my exhaust pipe would be GONE if I hadn't chopped it.

Besides that the dog rides in the back seat when I'm off-road. And if she's in the bed I don't sit around idling. Running idle isn't good for the truck anyhow. Why waste the gas?

It's not perfect but Cat Converters do reduce carbon monoxide emissions quite a bit.

 

I'm guessing you are trying to help, but your opinions suck.

The tailpipe would be protected in the position I am thinking of. My sliders would protect the exit.
I do not want to spend the money on a 3" exhaust just to hack it up. I could build what I want and cheaper.
My two Akitas do not fit in the back seat. And up until recent I had a third big dog with me.
Poison is in the dose. As I modify my exhaust one set of cats will be removed, the remaining one will be "high flow."
I'm not concerned about the negative effects of the little bit of idling I do, but when it's -20 it needs it.
I drive fast and slow.
