IMG_2639.jpgI changed mine last weekend, my truck has 130k on it and still had the original plugs, this is what they looked like, 3/16" gap!! Starts much better and runs smoother now. Oem Denso, $4,50 a piece on Amazon. Change your plugs, your truck will thank you!

How many years have you been driving? 30,000 miles has been a regular replacement schedule for copper core spark plugs since the mid-1970s when high energy ignitions started to be standard equipment. With points ignition they usually need to be replaced every 10,000-12,000 miles.

Amen to that brotha..Just placed mine at 44,000. They didn't look to bad but throttle response increased after plugs. @chris4x4 has a killer DIY sticky. I recommend this magnetic socket made it a breeze to remove plugs and to eliminate cross threading.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0014ZVSVK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I recomend getting the plugs off of EBAY you can get a set of DENSO's for less than $15

I'll have to take a look at the owners manual for my '71 Trans Am once daylight breaks but I'm fairly certain it recommends replacing the spark plugs every 12,000 miles. It has points with the old style oil-filled ignition coil.

Changed mine Saturday at 37,000 easy miles. Job took about an hour and a half from start to finish. Plugs were worn and the gaps ranged from 046 to 050. I chose to remove the intake tube on the passenger side which involves 5 bolts total. One of the bolts for the intake tube is blocked by a neighboring bracket so it had to be loosened in order to get at the 2nd bolt on the intake tube. I gapped the new denso plugs at 040. They came gapped at 042 out of the box.

i dont love this project. that alum head always effs with my mind as i imagine threads peeling off :)

i do change on time, since i dont want the old ones welding on there for a 100k miles. next time..NO anti-sieze.. and do it on a cold motor. first thing in the AM. the job is easy,, helping a guy on his F150 gave me spark-plug anxiety..or something.

I torqued mine to 12 first. Then I went to 15. It does feel sketchy when the washer is crushing down.

I had ngk on the drivers side and denso on the passenger. Here is the ngk part number that came out of my 2015 4.0l.
