I was wondering if anyone has ever mounted a rack and RTT to the top of a raised cap from LEER? Mine does not have any mounts or rails on top of it and I'm about to pickup a roof top tent.

    Thanks for the help!

    Bump.
Also looking to see what others have done. Debating between buying a rack and and building one...

I've decided to go with a cab mount rack and putting the RTT on that. As much as I want to put it over the bed I am wary on how much that cap would actually hold. And it would make it stupid high for me (I'm short) to unzip everytime. At least with over the cap I can climb up through the doors to unfold and fold it.

I'm going to order a Front Runner Load bar setup - basically a stripped down roof rack that will strictly be for holding the RTT when its mounted.

Sorry, I'm just now seeing this. I have a Leer 100XR and the weight limit on the factory installed roof rack is 150lbs. I think they are all, unless you get a reinforced top.

Good call on that. With my RTT on a regular height cap, it was still a struggle for me getting everything unzipped and set-up, and I'm 6' tall. I brought along an aluminum step ladder to make it easier on myself.

2 tier sliding TracRac for rooftop tent and kayaks, canoe, bicycles. . .
[ IMG_0371.jpg 1,200 lbs is the Tracrac SR's load capacity. They say the sliding track doesn't work on the 3rd gens but it didn't take much for me to fab something up to bolt it onto the nuts that are already incorporated in the box sides. The advantage of using the SR sliding track is that I could make it 2 tiered to mount boats, bikes, whatever above my rooftop tent. This pic was on a 2 week, 3,000 Km trip where we went camping, back-country hiking, whitewater rafting, canoeing down rapids and more. We were able to bring all the gear along, even our bikes for getting around the ranch and campsites. Made me real glad that I got the Taco instead of a Jeep!

Hi @Buff_it, do you have any further up-close pics of how you mounted the SR's rails? You mentioned fabbing something up to bolt it onto the nuts already incorporated into the box sides. I would like to do the same setup and any guidance/pics would greatly appreciate! I am hoping to be able to set this up with the BAK revolver x2 tonneau. Thanks in advance -

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
I do have a raised ARE on a 1st gen. When I bought the topper there was an option for reinforced top. I did not opt for it. If I remember right either version wasn't rated for much. Since I only carry kayaks or a small sailboat I went with the standard version with Yakima racks.

I don't have pics just yet. Basically what I did was cut 6 lengths of 1/4" 2x2 aluminum angle and bolt each one to the pairs of threaded nuts that you see at the top of the inside of the box once you pop off the plastic cap that runs the length of the tops of the box sides. I drilled, tapped and machine screwed these to the underside of the Tracrac tracks.
I am pretty sure these would interfere with any tonneau covers, but I could be wrong about that.
