Well, as you may have noticed on any forum you are a part of, photobucket began demanding $400 per annum to allow image hosting. This change came without warning, and is, IMHO, the last straw for me. I don't know why I stayed with them. The shame is, they have ruined a lot of great "how to" threads and photo galleries across the internet. Of course, it's their right to do so, but really.....what a bunch of selfish knobs. Even those paying for the premium service were affected. Many TW threads are now full of photobucket warning signs.

I think a "from this point forward you will have to pay for new images hosted" would have been better. Now I can't trust them, nor can anyone else, so they are done.

Anyone considering, don't pay the $400. Next year they will want $1000, and so on.

I've always said everything that is free on the internet will eventually cost. First adverts. will make them money than as investors want more of a return, membership fees.

For sure, and I'm not against paying for a service. I think $400 is a bit rich for hosting the 5 photos I have on Tacoma world, and let's face it, is well beyond the means of a lot of folks who chose to use photobucket, which billed itself as a free service up to a certain amount of storage (if you didn't mind watching endless adds). A lot of great threads, made by folks on a tight budget, will go dark.

For sure it's "buyer beware", but I'm not sure why they've chosen to hang themselves either. I'd consider paying a cost I found reasonable, but $400 for what they offer is more than I'm willing to spend to keep my old content alive. Anyways......good riddance I suppose.

Broken links, used up bandwidth, hosting sites closing, paid accounts going not paid, being blocked by employers filters, etc is nothing new. And that is why I always upload my pictures to the forum in question. I don't understand why people use sites like photobucket, IMO it's almost rude because of the reasons listed above. Maybe with the new fee they will stop.

    FREE FIX

If you're using Google Chrome, go to the three dots on the right side of the screen and click them. A drop down should appear. Hover your mouse over "More Tools," and when the next drop down appears, click on extensions. Go to the link towards the bottom that says "Get more extensions." In the search box, type "Photobucket Fix," and hit enter. Click the install button and once it's done, you should be able to see photobucket pictures again.

For FireFox users, click on the three bars on the right side of the screen, then click on add ons. Click search for "photobucket hotlink" and click install.

Just go to the little red box in the upper right, the one with an "X" in it.

    Click that.

Whenever Internet Explorer comes up, click that box and you will never have an issue with IE.

No thank God. I think TW is one of the few sites out there that is still privately owned. Somone correct me if I'm wrong but just the fact that we don't have videos pop up on each page and loading is so fast leads me to think that.
Toyota Nation (which I used to use a LOT) is ruined, as is Customtacos.com, TTORA and many others. Their memberships dwindled and new content suffered since selling out also.

As far as phtobucket, i just installed the extension, thanks. I had been right clicking then, 'save as' to view them. it was just an end around that was still a hassle but they were still there so I was hoping PB would eventually cave. They just slit their own throat. Never pays to be first to charge a fee.

I also predict someday we will pay road taxes (tolls) as soon as we pull out of our driveways and all roads will become corporate owned.
I'm like Nostradamus except all my visions are just about money out of our pockets.

Absolutely the best thing about this site. The worst is paid sites that still have pop-ups. I hope if TW ever struggles with funds they go the Patreon route, rather than brow beating us with adds.
