Hey guys, I have always wanted a Tacoma as my 4x4 rig and I have finally acquired one. I ordered a Japanese exchange motor and I have already pulled the old one (head gasket or cracked head). My problem is that It has some type of after market lift (approx 5 inches in the front and 3.5 in the back). They (a previous owner) did something to eliminate the upper control arm. This is all fine and dandy but the upper shock mount now needs to be replaced. It is not the factory toyota shock mount. And I am having trouble locating a new one. I was wondering if any of you could help if you have t he same lift. I just need a part number for the upper shock mount. Attached are some pictures to help. The shock mount has been removed but you can see the hole and attachment points and also the old mount. Any help is good help!!! Thanks so much

That looks like that old Trailmaster lift that doesn't include UCA's. It's junk. And people have had to get some sort of McPherson struts that are installed on a certain Volkswagen. I'm not making this stuff up. I think the only part of it that is pro comp is that limit strap. It'd be better to change it over to a normal Toyota front end with the UCA's. I think @devinzz1 can explain it better than me. @frizzman maybe?

^^^ yup, that's Trailmaster lift that isn't sold anymore. I thought I had heard somewhere that ProComp struts may work with it but the whole lift kit is a big pain in the ass for people nowadays because it was discontinued. Hopefully someone here with some experience in making it work or going back to a stock setup can chime in.

struts are from a 85-91 vw golf

    Bilstein HD W0133 1605589
    gabriel G44714
    monroe 81853
    napa 72873

i assume the strut mount from the golf is the same too.

thats a 6" lift. the procomp with the bj spacer is a 4". the limit strap is there. it really isnt needed.

id just get fabtec 6" lift spindles and another uca. that strut design screws with the suspension geometry anyways.

Thanks so much for all of your help. I’m going to try and get the strut mount first. And I might try to go back to the factory uca in the future. I did see the pro comp strap. And when I sent pics to them they said it was not their part. That’s when I posted here. Thanks again

Thanks to all of you that have helped. I am still really struggling to find that upper shock mount that will work. Ive decided now I will just have to get one that is close and modify it as I cannot find anything that will work. If anyone has a part number for that mount that would be awesome. thanks

I have decided to get rid of that strutt, but I will be left with a problem. The problem is that I will need to adapt the UCA because of the lift. i am not sure how this is done. Does anyone have any advice for this?
