I have no idea if Amazon sells the carpet I use Amazon saw the carpet I used. I bought mine from Home Depot. It is roughly 8 feet by 10 feet I think. It is labeled as outdoor carpet and sells for $20 per roll

I have been in my busy season at work so progress is going slow.

Tonight I made some serious progress though. I have the frame of 1 drawer done, and the ends skinned. All I have left to do is skinn the sides and bottom, and install the barrel lock, and paint/carpet.

Here are some current pics. Ignore all the crap in my bed.20171125_224826.jpg 20171125_224843.jpg 20171125_224858.jpg

I have these same plastic totes. They work fine for me. Though I wish it was easier for me to organize what I put inside of them. I'm only using one now because I installed a fridge and fridge slide on the right side of my truck bed.

I love how you used metal to build this out. Seems it weighs less than my 2x6 cross beams and 2x12 middle beam.

The frame very well may be lighter, I'm not really sure on that aspect.
I did it from metal for 2 reasons. A 3/4" square tube is smaller(and stronger) than a 2x6/12. Basically gave me more storage room.
I also did it to learn a new skill. I had zero expierence welding before this project. I have learned quite a bit about it (I by no means think I am a good welder). Also doing it from metal just looks cooler!

This was a pretty lite setup with just the frame and deck. The drawers are getting kinda heavy though.

Do you have dimensions for the steel cross members?

Sorry I'm not sure what the exact measurements are, and will not be removing the entire platform to measure it. Just use a tape measure....i did use a .25" piece of flat stock beneath the .75" square stock to make it flush with the top of the indent.

I married my tacoma likes this.

It has taken me way to long to get the next step of this project done, but here it is!!

    A drawer!!

I don't have heat in my garage, and working in it requires me to empty half it, so let's just say motivation has been low.

But a fully welded drawer! All it needs is a coating of "paint". I think I will buy a Berliner product....
This was all done with a $90 Harbour Freight welder, and a person with 0 welding Expierence prior.

In the winter it will hold my ski collection, and fishing rods in the summer. As you can see there is ALOT of crap in the bed of my truck. I do plan to make another drawer, but that should go much easier as I can just copy this one.

Correct. It works good. They do take some effort to slide out as it is heavy steal before adding anything to the drawer. Slides would make it easier, but big $ for 6' slides. Also I do not have a outside support to attach a slide to with my setup.
I do not use the drawers every day. If I was constantly in and out if them I would maybe want it easier.
