Ya kinda just mechanical and won't engage untill you have it in 4x4, and fully locks under torque. I have in my rear and has been awesome so far.

True trac doesn't make a front lsd for the front 4runner or for the Tacoma. I asked at the Lucas Oil Off Road Expo.
