There are also a ton of good breweries in and around Sacramento if you are up this way. You may also want to check out the "Untappd" app if you haven't already, it's great for documenting the breweries you visit and the beers you try. It has photos, rating system, and badges for various accomplishments.

Last night we went to Freewheel Brewing in Redwood City. @theed met us there to go over some Baja stuff.

I had their English IPA...super good, not super hoppy. Their Fish & Chips were delicious! I found out later they have a kid's size fish and chips. Next time I go I'll have to have the kids size instead.

I'm heading to Yosmite on Friday after work.

Can anyone reccommend a brewery along the way.

    I'll be taking 680>580>205>120.

    Where you starting from ?

    In Los Banos, Paradiso.
In Merced, 17th Street Public House (while not a brewery, has a great selection.)
Mariposa, The Alley. Again not a brewery but great selection. great patio out back too). And also in Mariposa, Grove House. Its new, its a local brewer. And again, Mariposa, 1850 restaurant. They do their own beer. Great food too, I highly suggest the burgers.

EDIT. I can't fucking read before coffee...

    Do over...

Last Call Brewing, just off 120, east of Modesto.
If you take a short side trip into Jamestown, new place, The Service Station. good food, good craft selection, including small, local brews.

IN Yose, if you have to buy beer, get it at the Village Store, NOT Degnans-downstairs. Oddly, same company, but much cheaper and better selection at the Store. Or if you want to sit at the bar, upstairs Degnans bar has an ok selection. recently remodeled too.

    Thanks @Cuffs!
I think I'll have to stop at Last Call Brewing for sure.
The Service Station sounds pretty good. I imagine I'll be hungry by then too.

Make a brief stop in Groveland at The Iron Door Saloon. Purportedly the oldest operating bar in CA. Its a dive. Its for tourists. But its a neat stop.

I've driven past it a bunch of times. Mabye I'll check it out on the way back on Sunday.

I've been heading over to the East Side of the Sierra a lot the past few years and cut through Yosemite (when the pass is open anyway). We were joking that it's been late at night so many times we never get to see Yosemite during the day.

Anderson Valley Brewing Company. It is a bit out of the way, but their beer and scenery is worth it. DM me if you visit.

I've been there a few times. Super nice place! I'll message you if I come up that way. I probably won't be going up there until the spring time though.

Be warned, there’s still lots and lots of smoke in the valley. A tad of it is from the coastal fires but mostly Empire Fire here in the park. Still burning and hit a patch of ground fuels over the last couple days...

Wow! It's really gotten a lot smokier since last weekend! We drove through early on Friday and back again on Sunday going to and coming back from the Lone Pine area.

Thanks for the head's up. I'll forward this to my friend I'm going with.

I'm wondering how emigrant wilderness is looking. I'm gonna give the ranger station in Pinecrest a call tomorrow.

Service station? I’ll have to check that out. My commute home takes me through Jamestown.

Also if your willing to drive thirty minutes out of your way Dustbowl brewery is world class IMO. It’s in Turlock.

Also go to the restaurant downtown first time and if you like it there then it’s easy to put up with the new taproom/brewery location. (It’s a clusterfuck)
