After a couple of hundred rounds you will see the grouping is starting to get tighter on the new barrel, congrats and have fun plinkings!

I was thinking 'bout putting one together too but I might go cheap this time since I got some extra left over components laying around all I need is just the plain receiver.

See that’s my problem, I have components laying around so I start thinking why waste them. I’m planning on a new bench rifle and I scored a old walnut carbine stock with metal band and butt cap. I’ve refinished the stock and it’s a beauty. Eventually I’m planning a box stock (looking) carbine with iron sights. I’ve got a factory barrel that’s been “set back” and rechambered.

Y'all gonna love this or hate this...

This is my Ruger 10/22 Tacti-mall-sop-mod-99 It get's a lot of attention on the range because of the fire speed and ridiculousness of it. More that once I've had people mistake it for a 9mm suppressed full auto. All I know is I bought it used while I was looking for a BOG specifically a 10/22 takedown and this was less expensive than a new takedown with the added bonus of not needing to be assembled when pull out of the sack thanks to the folding stock. It has since turn into a how tacti-cool can I make this thing!?

Just needs a bi-pod now, if you got a spare you wanna see on this beast PM me!

    Aside from that...

    Mods...

Has anyone here had a good experience with the Promag 50 round drum? I've been having feed issues with it and am ready to send it downrange instead of trying to get it to work. Any tips?
I already polished the feed ramp, but I'm still getting failure to feed issues. I've tried 2 different types of ammo, but haven't run CCI through it yet, I know it's much more appreciated by the little 10/22s than the cheap stuff.

I don’t have any personal experience with them, however the general consensus is that they are complete crap. Google “Promag 50 round drum review” and you’ll see. If you can find a Mitchell 50 round tear drop mag, they run perfectly.

I know about their reputation for being crap, but it was on sale so I figured, why not? Just trying to see if there are any hacks to get them to run smoother (or at all).

Alright so I was given a 10/22 after my great uncle passed and thing looks in great shape but was unsure of shooting condition. Plan is to let the wife use it as her "first" rifle before we get her on an ar.

Long story short went to test it out and shot pretty well for few rounds then had a few double feeds, FTF, and duds. The final straw was having a double feed fast enough that blew a round before it was fully seated in the chamber... few powder burns and little metal shards out of my fingers and it was put away, did find a pin on the ground.

Finally pulled it all apart and I am shocked to say the least, how in the hell is the extractor and spring missing? :help:

Edit: Did one other test fire after original failures and was shooting in 3 round bursts at times, really want this rifle shooting right so any help is appreciated!

Extractor is missing because you had a "out of battery" round go off, pretty common in .17 caliber conversions in 10/22's and 10/22M's. less common in .22LR but still happens. You could have a carbon ring built up in the chamber preventing the shell to fully seat. I'd have to inspect to be certain. Three round burst, sounds like a "hack" home trigger job, again I'd need to take a peek. You should carry it to a gunsmith. Is this gun grossly filthy?
