    Thanks for stepping up!

As a total fire loss earlier this summer, I've been thru all this donation stuff. Let things settle down and the needed items will reveal themselves. Immediate needs are being handled by numerous agencies and groups.

I am still running a paypal donation to directly help TW folks. You are welcome to give there too.

Fires are still burning, let emergenmanagent do their thing and keep out of their way. Only transport goods if you can find a reliable place to take them. Most places are already overburdened.

Met with friends and associates at a west county restaurant last night, and now that the fires are mostly contained and comms are back up I discovered dozens of my people have been displaced. Most like myself fled with nothing, some with small go-bags. Not a single person had enough advance notice to gather anything more. Some of their children witnessed horrifying things like persons running on fire, cars exploding, maybe with passengers trapped. One family of four had to abandon their vehicle on mark west springs as the tires were ablaze. My best friends 5 y.o. daughter asks every few minutes if we are safe, if the fire is coming again.

Everyone is seeking help to deal with the emotional trauma aspect of this event. Admitting the need was not easy for some but the meeting last night made it clear it is universally necessary. FEMA and insurance are helping and will replace some material items but there is damage that is not visible to the eye.

Agreed @IronPeak. This is the type of trauma that can bring about PTSD. Take care of yourself man.

We had the time to prepare. We’re also first responders by career. Figured we’d handle it better than the average person. For the most part we’d did and still do.

About two weeks post fire I started having extremely graphic nightmares depicting violence of which I’ve never seen the likes of even in horror movies. Lasted a few weeks and haven’t been back thankfully. Husband and I have trivial spats that we never had. Working together on that.

Our county health department has offered free group counseling for any and all affected. It helps. Can’t say it fixes, but it helps.

@IronPeak more resources will become available in the coming weeks. Be patient and always know you can ask here for anything you need!

Just got an email from Freeman Toyota where I bought my truck. Thought I'd share.

If your vehicle was damaged or destroyed in the fire, we can assist you in the process of replacing your vehicle by providing you with information you will need for your insurance claim, including a vehicle appraisal.
Our thoughts are with you and our entire Santa Rosa community. If we can help, please don't hesitate to call — (707) 535-2330.
If you need a car in a hurry, we are standing by to help. Below are a few of our current low lease offers on 2018 Toyota models.

Goods donated for fire victims will be available for pick up this weekend at Freeman Toyota. If you or someone you know is in need of bedding, clothing, infant supplies, pet supplies, non-perishable food items, and lots of water stop by Freeman Toyota and take what you need.

For as terrible an event as this is, I was heartened to hear friends of mine were able to return to what was left of their home in Coffey Park. They were looking for one thing, a wedding ring. They found the ring and several other items-not much else.

Damn, how did I not see this sooner! Thanks @Cuffs for posting all of the SO Nixles here.

@IronPeak Please see the information below:

If you have been impacted by the fires and have not visited the Local Assistance Center (LAC) to get assistance, you are missing out on the opportunity to replace vital records—both County and state documents—without cost. These include driver’s licenses, vehicle titles, ID cards, and others. When the LAC closes, regular replacement fees for records will be reinstated.

The County and the City of Santa Rosa have established the LAC in partnership with FEMA and the California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) for residents who have been impacted by the fire. The Santa Rosa LAC is located in downtown Santa Rosa at the Press Democrat building located at 427 Mendocino Avenuebetween Ross and 5th Streets. For residents in the Sonoma Valley area, the LAC is located at Hanna Boys Center, 17000 Arnold Dr.

The LAC is a one-stop shop with critical services for residents who have been impacted by the fires. Some of these services include:

    • FEMA Disaster Recovery Center
    • Department of Motor Vehicles
    • American Red Cross
    • Small Business Administration
    • HOPE Animal Assistance Crisis Response
    • County Assessor and Tax Collector
    • Child Support Services
    • Housing Assistance
    • Fire & Emergency Services
    • Health & Human Services
    • Building Permitting Agencies
    • Transportation & Public Works
    • Veteran’s Affairs
Santa Rosa LAC: Parking is free off of B St. in the city lot. The LAC is also accessible by Sonoma County Transit and City Bus via route 1. The LAC is just three blocks from the Downtown Transit Mall.

Sonoma Valley LAC: Parking is free and is accessible by Sonoma County Transit Route 30.

Both locations are wheelchair accessible, and there are Spanish translators and a children’s play areas available.

Hours are Monday through Saturday 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM (last entry at 6:00 PM). NOTE: This will likely change after this coming weekend (OCT 28-29), so check on changed hours after that.

For more information, contact the Sonoma County Community Hotline
    (707) 565-3856 .

I work for the SO so if I get any good information I'll be sure to pass it along in here.

Would there be any interest if I auctioned a print of the eclipse to raise some extra money? 100% of it would go.

Didn't know this thread existed until @jberry813 brought it up in another thread.

Hope things start normalizing over there in NorCal.
