I'm curious why you went with sections of L-track instead of long single pieces? It just seems like it would be easier to mount one piece per side.

I put L-track on the inside of my bedrails and it's awesome!

It definitely would have been easier and better to use a single piece if that was possible. However, the L Track is so rigid it would we near impossible to bend it to fit the curves across the length of the roof. It doesn't seem like it curves a lot until you put a straight edge along it.

You're right, I didn't even think of that. I just put yakima rails on my shell and there is a significant curve to it. The L-track that I put on my bed rails really stiffened them up.

Honestly the curvature of the roof was the biggest PIA about making the entire roofrack.

I think the extended cab is even worse since it bumps up right behind the door.

That's true... I know Prinsu makes a rack for the extended cab first gens and if I still had my extended cab I probably would've saved up for one of those. I like the look and adjustability more than the rack I built but they dont make racks for the double cab first gen.

Productive weekend started when I broke my engine cooling fan when making a small water crossing (you think I would learn to stay away from those). All said and done I ended up replacing the engine fan, fan clutch (which was bad anyways), changed Diff and Transfer Case fluid, and changed the fuel filter which I'm sure were all over due. Here are the links I used to help out if anyone is interested.

Yea I've been considering getting one, but it will have to happen once I have a garage or driveway again. Moving to Philly at the end of the month and my truck will be living on the street for a while!

Yeah my truck has been living on the streets for a while now. :( Can't wait to move next year... the new place will definitely have a garage and a dishwasher to make my life easier haha.

Haha, a dishwasher is that important? I grew up without one and find them kind of useless. Unless you need to wash something you cannot physically hand wash.

Yea I guess that makes sense with 3 or more people. I just think it still takes as much time to load and unload as it would to hand wash things right when you're done.

Quick update because its been a while... Ordered a new gas tank skid from Low Range, CBI frame reinforcements and 4xinnovations sliders! Waiting to hear back from Allpro Offroad about ordering their IFS skids. It's weird that they didnt offer a black friday/cyber monday sale this year and havent returned my calls...

Also upgraded from the ol Chicago 'lectric welder to a new Lincoln 140. Can't wait for everything to come in to get it installed!

Of course all the bolts wouldnt just come right out even after a generous amount of PB Blaster. Oh well got to try my skills with the easy outs on two of the bolts. It was a good feeling replacing all of the hardware with some new Stainless Steel bolts from the local ACE hardware. Removed the old gas tank skid and running boards this past weekend to prep for the upgrades. I could break the old gas skid in half by hand... I think it was time for a new one. And the Low Range skid looks a lot heavier duty. Figured this was also a good time to remove the diff drop. I dont think it helps that much so I went ahead and ordered some 1/2inx20 x 7 inch grade 8 bolts for a couple bucks from bolt depot online.

    Out with the old...

Got the sliders and gas tank skid installed so far... still waiting to order IFS Skids from Allpro Offroad as they are currently moving their shop. Hoping to get the frame reinforcements welded on next week. I'm very impressed with the Lincoln 140 I picked up. As you can see below I was able to get pretty good penetration on the 1/4 inch frame plates and for Flux core and my very limited ability, I was able to lay some half decent beads. Also removed the front diff drop and put in some grade 8 bolts that were stock length.

And yes I also noticed the missing rear bump stop on the driver side... time to upgrade those in the near future now
