Hey guys. Welcome to my thread. This build has gone way further than I expected it to go. I expected to have my lift and tires and some armor by then end of my first two years, yet here I am, fully armored and not really sure where to go from here. I drive a 2017 Toyota 4Runner SR5. The build for the 4Runner has been a long and fun process and I fully plan on continuing to make it a badass rig.

How she sits as of 7/31/2021:

    When I first got her:

(This was just after I got the windows tinted and the window visors put on)

My plans for this build started out as a nice, rigid, 4 stage process, but now it has devolved into a "which part do I need next" process.

    Exterior:
    -Black emblem covers from Nox-Lux
-Prinsu Full Length Roof Rack w/ 2 42" Plano Cases, traction boards, and kayak mounts
    -AlphaRex Pro Series Alpha-black headlights

-32" Mictuning Light bar behind the grill
    -Plastidip roof rails

    Interior/Convenience:

    -ARB CKMA12 single air compressor
    -Ram Tablet Mount
    -Fire extinguisher in the door
    -Dometic CFX-40w Fridge
    -Home-built drawer system (redone twice)

    Suspension/Wheels:
-Front: Dobinsons MRA with OME 886's
    -UCAs: Dirt Kings UCAs
-Rear: Dobinsons LT MRA with C59-677V Variable rate coils
-Trailing arms: Dobinsons Upper and Lower adjustable trailing arms
    -Rear: +4 extended brake lines
    -17x8 Black Level 8 MK6
    -295/70R17 Cooper MTP
    -Powertrax 1620-LR LockRight mechanical locker
    -255/80r17 Cooper ST MAXX
    -OME Nitros with 886's
-OME Shocks with 885's and 895e's
    -Rear: OME Nitros with 889's
    -Spidertrax 1.25" Wheel spacers

    Communication:
    -Baofeng Handheld HAM Radio
-Uniden Pro 520XL CB Radio with 4' Firestik

    Armor:
    - @Mobtown Offroad Weld-on Rock Sliders
    - @Mobtown Offroad IFS, Transmission, T-Case, and Fuel Tank skid
    - @Mobtown Offroad Low Profile Rear Bumper with Dual Swingout

    Future plans:
-Ummm... I'm running out of things to do
-Maybe build some trailing arm skids? Maybe Snorkel?

So this week we went out and installed the CB Radio. I bought the Uniden Pro520XL CB, a 4ft Black Firefly antenna, the Firestik door jamb mount, and the Firestik Heavy Duty Stainless Steel antenna spring. All of this was bought off of Amazon for a total of around $80. The install took us a couple days due to running out of daylight on the first day.

We started with installing the CB on the passenger side of the center console area. The CB is pretty small and fits really well. The wiring is run behind the head unit to the Driver side and out the firewall through the big grommet. The Mic is attached to the head unit with a small aluminum plate and some heavy duty double sided tape.

    20171023_130511.jpg

    20171025_113016.jpg

Then we removed the rear bumper and started installing the antenna mount to the bumper. We drilled 4 holes in the bumper for the screws with an extra hole below for the wiring to go through. We also ran a ground wire from the antenna to the frame since the bumper is plastic and not a good grounding plane.

    20171025_113055.jpg

    20171025_113036.jpg

Everything cleared on the rear hatch with very little room. The antenna is angled back as well so the hatch doesn't hit it when it opens.

    20171023_130444.jpg

Overall I'm happy with the CB and antenna mount. We were able to get it all working on the first try and were able to communicate on it just fine without much tuning.

Today I went to Green Ridge again with some guys from work and a couple others. Finally worked up the courage to do an obstacle that I've really been wanting to do. Also was a good chance to get a couple guys used to being in their trucks off-road.

    20171110_135019_100.jpg

Surprisingly enough, the only thing I was dragging was the Fuel Tank Skid plate. Nothing else touched.

Nice little victory shot with @AR15xAR10 in the way.

Got a call from him last night that his rear passenger tire was dead flat. I went over and we pumped it up to 60psi and sprayed soapy water all over to find the leak. Couldn't find a damn thing.

    Did you check both beads?

Might have gotten something in it since he aired down

We did, and didn't find anything in them. He didn't air down though. He just wanted to put a little more air in before hitting the road. I lent him my compressor, so if it's flat again this morning, at least he can air back up and go to a tire store.

I'm thinking that the bead had some debris or something in it from wheeling, and when it got warm from being on the road for 2 hours, it caused it to open a small hole. I went out around 9 this morning and it was still full. and I'm checking again here in a couple hours.

Phew!! You should drive it around and then park it, to test the warming up theory. That'd suck to have to air it back up when leaving work today.

Yeah I'm going to. I'm just really hoping whatever it was got out of it when we sprayed it with the soapy water

Thank you! and honestly at this point it might as well be like his secondary build since he helps with just about every part of it. Lol

Got my American Flag decal in from Overlook Graphics. Shipping took longer than I expected, but they came in and were in good condition. Since today was a beautiful and decently warm day, I decided to put them on. I didn't get any progress pictures because of how much concentration went in to getting them straight and lined up with each other.

I am really happy with the way they turned out, even though I didn't get a perfect angle on them. I think they look great.
