Pulling the trigger soon on a kit from HS. Should I have them pre-assemble the strut and spring or is that something I can do on my own?

Depends on your intestinal fortitude and how cheap you are. @Timbo89 doesn't mind building them, but compressing those springs makes me as nervous aas a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs so I usually get mine preassembled.

I've done it twice with a floor jack using the truck as the compressor & it is by far way less ass puckering. Haha

It would be a lot easier & quicker if you bought them assembled. That's if you can afford that option or want to spend the extra cash.

Yeah, sounds good. I was just curious on the difficulty to do it myself. I'll pay to have them do it

Howdy! Due to a bunch of circumstances out of my control, my Taco and I are in the New Tampa area, visiting the family. I need to have the front end aligned, and was wondering if there are any shops that y'all are satisfied with, and would like to recommend.

Not looking for the cheapest, but for someone who understands this trucks.

FYI: 1st gen, lifted 3 inches, it has aftermarket UCA and the front diff is properly aligned.

Will drive pretty much anywhere in the Bay area, but the closer to New Tampa, the better. Thanks!

Eh, I'm not a big fan of Dumas. I bought a set of tires from them with warrenty, and they didn't honor the warranty when one tire had catastrophic failure. The whole tread came off when I hit someone's muffler on the Frankland bridge. Dumas said they could not honor the warranty since they couldn't measure the tread depth of the failed tire. I thought that was BS, since the other 3 tires were purchased at the same time and had worn evenly.

I've heard really good things about Kaufman and used them a few times over the years. Last time I used Tire Kingdom on Busch for new tires and alignment, but that was over 10 years ago. Those places seem to be either great or evil depending on the manager.

    Welcome to TW, Taylor.

We do quite a few things depending on your interests. Twice a year, in the Fall and Winter we have big Off-road meets at Citrus WMA. You just missed the Fall Camp & Ride Meet a couple of weekends ago. The next one is the Annual Meet which should be going down sometime in February. Subscribe to the below thread for updates. There should be a poll coming out soon to determine which weekend it's happening.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-2018-annual-citrus-meet.382269/

The Fall Camp & Ride Thread is here...

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/fall-camp-ride-oct-20-22-2017.440269/

We have other day trips to various places, mostly Citrus and Hardrock ORV Park in Ocala, but there isn't a ton of planning that goes into those.

We also have the occasional Show & Shine meets that usually involve lunch. The big one there is the Tamlando Meet which usually happens in Lakeland as kind of a mid point between Tampa and Orlando. I think we've had as many as 60 trucks in attendance before. Smaller local lunch meets happen on occasion. I say local but the last one we had was at the Smokey Bones in Citrus Park here in Tampa. We had about 20 or so trucks, some, IIRC, from as far away as Fort Myers. Considering it was raining that day, that was an awesome turn out.

There's also a Beach Meet that takes place periodically at New Smyrna Beach.

At any rate, you should subscribe to this thread to keep up with any meets that are going down.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/florida-upcoming-meets-ongoing-list.382523/

There are also some out-of-state off-road trips that happen. There's a thread for those too. :D

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/official-out-of-state-wheeling-trips-thread.492986/

    Hope that helps.

Also, if you haven't been there already, if this thread is in one of its quiet cycles, there's usually some discussion going on here...
