Wait what would happen of you drilled new holes for the 6 lug top hat to fit.
    :anonymous:
There some guy from the 5 lug fb that said he has 5100s up front but has yet to produce proof.

I tried to get back on board 5-lug fb to see what the post was/what the context was, but apparently i've been declined from a rejoin. That's their loss.

I would take any claim of 5100's up front on a 2nd Gen 5-lug with a giant scoop of salt. 5100's up front are simply too long to jam in, and fit without maxing out the suspension and screwing the geometry up. There is an approximate 6" difference in collapsed and extended length between 4600's and 5100's.

1st gen may be a totally different story - and i have seen references to 5100's being used on the 1st gens. Not having a 1st gen, i haven't paid close enough attention to specifics.

SAW Coilovers were a solid product. Never really had an issue with them.

The TC UCAs were just worthless, IMO. Nice until the liner around the uniball comes out.

I'd still do everything again, cept for the MTs.

The squeak is making me crazy. Its coming more from front then back. Thinking of just removing the front spacer but not even sure that would help. Anybody have this front squeak. its coming from top of strut.

I have a slight squeek I'm assuming it's a bushing but I won't be changing that out anytime soon.

Expressed my concern and disappointment in the direction that respect was going in a public thread going sideways, and then left the group. Facebook stuff that really ain't important or relevant as a real-world concern.

It's their party.. their car club. To paraphrase Groucho Marx.. "I Don’t Want to Belong to Any Club That Will Accept Me as a Member".

    It's over.

What's up guys my name is Mario Im 19 years old I live in Lindsay California, I own a 2012 Toyota Tacoma it's rear wheel drive and a 4 cylinder engine. The only things I've done to my tacoma was put a pro comp body lift, toyo open country A/T tires and XD series rims. Everything else is just your regular stock tacoma. I was wondering what kind of off road suspension you guys think is grest but doesn't really break the bank my budget really is like 2500 and whats some good websites I've been looking around and I really can't find anything I do all my shopping at carrols tire warehouse I love it but they don't really help. What I wanted to do is maybe lift it a tiny bit more maybe go from a 2 inch body lift to a 4 just so I can fit my old BFG M/T and eliminate the rubbing that was happening a lot. Last thing did you guys have to regear or anything to fit bigger heavier tires I was told to do that and get a compression system from ARB just so i can at least get by my towing back and lock my rear wheels or something like that.

What was the tire size that was rubbing?

There isn't really an 'off-road' suspension for these trucks - the Total Chaos mid/long travel kits for these have been long discontinued - they started around $3k when they were available.

Our trucks are pretty much limited to the off the shelf budget lift/level kits - Fat Bob's offers one, as does a few other manufacturers. They bring ride height up by 2.75" front/1.5" rear when combined with good shock/strut replacements. Having a body lift already - i am not sure if the combination of the two will cause complications in steering and suspension geometry.

Take the tire size off of the rubber that is rubbing - 27" diameter is the OEM tire size circumference.

The larger the tires come, the more expensive it is going to be - i've gone up to 31.7", with a final drive regear, and a mechanical LSD in the differential.

You need to remove the black box (search black box mod)
I've got 29's on a 3" front 3" rear. Like HackD said it's mainly a spacer lift and I would not suggest going higher in body lift if you plan on off road on. Mid travel can cost like 1500 used. I'm going mid travel but Im building mine.

Ya we are limited on stuff like that :( I went to carrols tire where I live and I was going to buy a Pro comp 6 inch lift and that came with everything shocks coilovers but after talking to a few guys here they all said I shouldn't really do it for it being the car that it is and 2wd it will mess up the whole geometry of the truck :boom:

I would go with total chaos upper control arms and some type of coilovers in the front. It'll give you a 3 - 4" of suspension lift. I would also remove the body lift or go smaller if you plan on thrashing you truck. (There's a lot of debate on here about body lifts but my view is only up to 1")

For the rear I'd do a 2" aal and possibly a shackle flip if more lift is wanted. The shocks that would fit then would be any 6 lug rear shocks (I'm rocking 6 lug fox shocks for 0 - 1" of lift )

I would also consider longer brake lines for safe of mind.

Our version of the Tacoma is definitely a budget version, sharing little in the way of the pre-runner/4x4's in terms of suspension and axle components. Furthermore - your Tacoma is a bit of a fabled Unicorn .. not many of the crew-cab 5-lugs out there, as compared to the single or access cab versions. Your Tacoma is the heaviest version, with the comparatively weaker 4 cyl 2.7L. You are operating inside of a limited number of options available to you. It's not something i would personally consider off-roadable. You can regear to bring back the towability (*within reasonable OEM limits) once you've set your final tire/rim combo.

I assume that you have the automatic transmission at 3.58:1 final drive gearing - you can put different ratio pinion and gears into the differential on that one, vs need for an outright replacement for the manual transmission at 3.31:1 final drive gearing. That at least, is in your favor.

There are a few on this forum section, that have built up their crew-cab versions. An end goal of 245/75R16 would be appropriate for the truck proportionally, IMHO.

My end goal is 33's with 4.30s gears and mid travel to eventually long travel

I've been shopping around last month or so and I like this site they do their work custom but I'm iffy on this and I'm new to Tacoma world it's been helping a lot with what I want to do and taking into consideration what will happen if I do it wrong. I like how I can come on here and show you guys what I've been looking at and ask for your guys opinion and this is a 6 lug OEM King shock I've seen some 6 lug FOX shocks to on a couple other sites but with my truck being basically a unicorn I second guess a lot of things. And thanks guy for the help really appreciate it all!

Only rear 6 lug shocks will work. Those are too big unfortunately.
This explains the shocks you can use with aftermarket uppers.
