Nope, 265s, so of course no rubbing. Yes, I had the beadlocks powder coated "Triple Bronze".

Hey guys, I am currently in the process of trying to get my dad set up with a new suspension for his Tacoma. He bought it brand new in 2006 and it now has 110,xxx miles on it. He loves the truck and is very apprehensive about doing anything to it. I just recently bought a TRD Pro Tundra and love the way it rides. I had a 2104 TSS before and this suspension on this PRO is just night and day different. So, naturally, I am trying to push a TRD Pro setup for his tacoma because I know he is not about the "wild" lift life. I actually just got him talked into getting his leaf springs replaced through Toyota. He has an appointment on Wednesday of next week to get it done. He's getting it done for free. The rear end of his truck sags pretty bad. He has had an undercover tonneau on it since day one and small coolers/random junk in the back. He also pulls a small trailer with a SXS and now has a 19 foot boat to fish in and enjoy his retirement. Needless to say, his truck needs the leafs and I feel like it is a small victory for me to get him to get it done.

Now.... His truck is a pre runner(2wd) crew cab version. 6cyl/automatic. Will this PRO suspension be too much? I've read almost every page of this forum (sorry if I missed it) and I didn't see a pre runner or 2wd version get it. His concern, and rightfully so, is that the truck will be lifted too high. He is 65 and has had 3 major back surgeries and is concerned about getting in and out of it. Will it be higher than the typical 1.75 inch increase that I have seen as the norm in this thread? Also, with him getting the new Toyota leafs put on on Wednesday, will the truck be leveled or will it still need something in the rear? His chief complaint lately is people flashing their high beams at him while he is headed out early to fish, and now hunting. I will be going back home in the middle of November and would like to be able to be there and do the install for him. So, I am trying to get everything right and get him to order something that will benefit the truck as a whole and he will still be able to use it and continue to love the truck. I just don't want to recommend something to him and it be the wrong thing for him and his usage. If it was a Tundra, I could help him a lot more than I can now, so I just figured I would make an account here and ask the experts. I really appreciate any and all help on this, and I have definitely enjoyed reading through this thread and learning more about these trucks and this particular setup. You guys have a good weekend and I look forward to some good pointers. Thanks in advance.

It's expensive unless you can find a guy who modified his pro and has the suspension lying around. IMO, you can get him a quality setup at 1.75 for less. If you want the 2.5" diameter shock, you'll have to pay more, but bilstein's 6112 is a great place to start. It's very similar to the 2015 TRD Pro suspension. I'd sell you mine, but I need to keep it around to throw in the truck when my icons need rebuilt.

Definitely understand. I have some pull offs from Tundra's laying around for the "just in case" moment if it ever should arise. So, I just looked at Totytec at the 6112's and saw that you can get it set up for .95 inch (on a pre runner), which may be a better option for him anyways. Is the matching shock for the rear the 5160 remote reservoir? That will actually probably leave him with some rake after the new leafs are put on having them assembled at .95. I'm assuming after looking at the difference in measurements on them that the pro setup will net a higher front lift on a 2wd than a 4wd. It makes sense that it would. Now, is that coil from toytec as "plush" as the PRO setup? Or, if there is a better resource to look at, please advise.

That setup with the 5160s would be perfect. I'm out of town right now but I can look up the part number on the pro springs when I get home. If I'm not mistaken it's 590lb. Someone might know for sure.

Ok. Thanks for your help so far. I will do some more digging and see what I can find on them.

I believe the Pro springs are 550 lb, and the 6112's are 600.

Thanks. So, will the PRO kit get the front too high on a pre runner? I would assume that it would be higher than on a 4wd that seems to get everyone at 1.75. It seems like it would but I just haven't read of anyone's experience with that particular setup.

Since the Pro doesn't have a height adj like assume the 6112's do it'll settle at around 1.75 after a few weeks on a 4x4. Since a Pre Runner's front end is lighter, I assume it would end up higher. How much higher I don't know.

At this point is sounds like the 6112 setup with the .95 lift would be a good option. However, the ride might be somewhat stiffer if it's using the 600 lb spring. I don't know what the stock spring rate on Pre Runners are, but the 4x4 TRD OR is 500 from the factory. I'd think the stock PR might be lighter, but I'm not certain

There is a user here that did the Baja/Pro suspension on a 2wd and he got some extra height up front since they carry less weight up there. It wasn't anything stupid, maybe just 1/4 inch or so. It looked good.

    Here, found it... https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/because-baja.277344/page-27#post-10467233

I think I asked @JuanitoBunito this before but I want to make sure I understand AND get the results that I'm looking for...just to recap.....

I just bought a stock 2015 TRD PRO with 23,000 miles and want to "correct" the rear squat cuz it just plain bugs me. I measured the center of the front hub to the bottom of the fender well and it measures 23" and I did the same in the rear and it measure 22.50" which means the rear squats 1/2". I measured with the bed empty except for the Extang Solid Fold 2.0 tonneau cover. The only thing I've done so far was install new BFG KO2 265/75/16 tires.

I was think about installing the Toytec 1" Front Lift for BAJA TRD Tacoma's, TRD Pro Edition Tacoma and 4Runner......http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com...JA-and-Pro-Edition-Tacoma-4Runner_p_1065.html which would raise up the front 1" for a total of 2.75" as well as installing the Toytec Progressive 3 Leaf Add A Leaf Pack WITH the stock overload which would raise up the rear 2.5". If I do both of these then not only will the truck be raised up but it also should be pretty level right?? I think this slight lift should look great and if it almost levels the front to back then my OCD will be happy! but.....20171109_162406_resized.jpg If I leave the stock overload leaf in will it ride like crap?

Also, what is the difference between the Toytec Progressive 3 leaf add a leak pack and the Icon 1.5" Progressive AAL-51100? Is it worth the additional cost for the Icon AAL versus the Toytec ones? I want to keep the stock shocks in back and also I want to keep the stock coils and struts in front. If I install the Toytec 1" front lift spacer and the 3 leaf progressive aal do I need to change the stock front struts or the rear stock shocks? and do I need extended SS brakes lines for the front and/or back?

or should I just simply install an AAL in the rear and leave the front alone???

please help me make the right choice!! ;-)

here's a current photo of my truck

You are dead on...putting the 1” toyotec specific Baja/pro spacer and the progressive aal w/overload was what I was going to do to raise it.....with a level stance.

When it comes to the progressive aal’s.....I have icons and have heard the wheelers one is the same. That being said, I’m certain toyotecs is very comparable as toytec makes great products.

You won’t have to change the front coil overs as this spacer is made specifically for our trucks. You won’t need extended brake lines either as you you really don’t need them until you reach 3” in height .....and that’s still only if you plan to offroad due to flexing your suspension to its limits.

One last thing, leaving the overload in will only make the rear red a tad stiffer......nothing that would stop me from leaving it in.

    Hope this all helps.

Here is mine with the 1” pro/Baja spacer and the rear icon progressive AAL. It sits pretty dang close to level. I did NOT leave the overload in. Ride is comparable to stock. I love the way it sits. I am running 265/75/16 duratracs.

Sorry the pictures suck but that’s all i have on my new phone.
