    Hey everyone,
Just looking for a quick answer as theres so many variables with these tire/lift set ups.

Picked up some duratracs today in a 285/70/17.
Current setup is 2.5 5100 lift on (stock coils) (stock uca)
Currently running 275/70/17 bfg ko's with no issues at all clearance wise.

Just wondering if anyone for see's me having to do a body mount chop!?
Im prepared to trim some plastic if needed, but would prefer not to start hacking at the body mount.
These duratracs seem oftly large for a 285, compared to the ko2 atleast. I guess different sidewalls and tread profiles.

    Thanks guys.

Chop them. I ran 275/70/17 bfg’s, but when I switched to 285 I guess I didn’t have enough caster and rubbed at mid-full lock in reverse

I just picked up some Duratracs 285/75/16 on ProComp wheels. I previously had KOs 285/75/16, when I bought it there was maybe 25% life left. Pretty much same lift setup. When I had the Duratracs put on I rubbed a little on front stock bumper corners. Dremel solved that. I haven't rubbed anywhere else. Nothing on turns or reverse. I've played with minor flexing and still no rub. Nothing extreme yet, busy at work. Winter is coming here!

Disclaimer: I'm not positive if previous owner did any chopping. Looking and poking around there though shows no signs of cab mount chop or anything. Also I've never had front mud flaps.

i guess time will tell. hopefully get them on this weekend and go from there.
Is there any harm "structurally speaking" chopping the body mount and not putting a filler plate??
I don't own a welder, but i'd totally do it myself if i could get my hands on one.

I would get a welder some how. Work, buddy, rent one, or take it to a fab shop. I would imagine you'd want to keep that sealed up tighter than a well diggers ass. As far as structurally I wouldn't think so, until rust got it. Because it's not sealed. But I've never done it. Thought about it for shits and giggles, and probably will eventually. There's someone on here that make perfect plates to weld them up with, but I can't remember his name. Search cab mount chop, or maybe someone else will chime in.
Let me know your results, if you rub or not. I'm curious.

Good choice on the tires also. I love mine so far. We've had really wet weather and they've handled surprisingly well. On dry roads their more responsive than my old KOs.

Renting a welder crossed my mind. We'll see how bad it is soon. Ill keep you posted.
Did some pre install trimming on the plastics earlier today. Just took a photo off a total choas cab mount chop how-to video. So should be good in that department.
Ill be ordering rokblokz for oversized tires stat. I hate the thought of running without flaps around here. They use sand/gravel instead of salt to tame the snowy roads up here. I like my clean paint!

I can't blame you on the flaps.

Several members have been wheeling hard for years on chopped cab mounts without fill plates.

I run 255s, so no chop here

    Got em on.
And hot diggity do they look good lol.
Zero rubbing on the fender plastics and can mounts.
They'll be fine for daily use, but if i do any wheeling ill have to think about chopping the cab mount. The more the tire gets stuffed the worse the rubbing will be, (to be expected)
Even threw my rally armors back on for now, they rub them a bit, but there so flexible it shouldn't be much of an issue for now.

Also, my passenger side comes closer to rubbing than the drivers side.
Definitely need an alighment in the near future!

I dont rub the body, but rub at full lock in reverse against the plastics. I'll probably chop when I get new tires. Running 285/75/16 duratracs

I always wondered why people rub in reverse vs forwards at full lock?

So far im loving these new tires. Super grippy on the snow and ice. Such a big improvement over my worn out ko's.

I just installed Nitto Terra Grapplers G2 - 285/70/17 with -12 offset on the wheels. No rub on the cab mount but I rub the inner fender well plastic and corner of the bumper trim that wraps around the inside of the fender well at full lock in reverse. With the assistance of the tire tech that installed my tires we trimmed the plastic with a sharp knife before I left their shop but the bumper wrap-around needs some adjustment to keep it from rubbing at full lock. I can see that in an off-road situation I could rub on the cab mounts but I will worry about that later on.
