TPMS Absent

If you put wheels on the truck without TPMS sensors in them, will the truck give you a low pressure warning constantly or will it just read "--" for each wheel on the Tire Pressure screen?

Wanting to put on a second set of wheels without TPMS and trying to figure out what would happen.

Yea will set the light on the dash. And will stay on. And also won't show a reading for each wheels.

Just cover that lite with a piece of 5/8" round electrical tape... problem solved..!

 

Not sure about the new design cluster but you might be able to remove the bulb from the back.

No can do... no bulb there... it's some kinda fiber optic thingy.. tape is best...trust me...used it since 2006.

 

Then you have to remove them from yer tires.... costs money...every time you remove the tires from the wheel = balance......and possible leaks, etc...

Come on....just way too much crap... tape it..

 

Damn, I guess tape is the best option.

There are but you still have to get them programmed to the truck

Let's say you get sensors from another tacoma. Will your truck read those already or do those still need to be programmed to the truck?

 

They would need to be programmed

Edit: the computer is looking for the registered serial numbers of each sensor along with the pressure.

 

Well my wheel deal fell through so I guess I'll just get these sensors out when I change my tires and build my sensor case then.

 

Interesting fact. I replaced the wheels on my 17 with out TPMS inside. I do not have a dash light. Just no pressure readings.

 

And I jinxed myself. After 2 days and 200 miles the low pressure light decided to come on. Booo. Wonder why it waited so long.
