My tailgate seal still works great for this issue. My pass door started the creak and I applied a strip on it and it worked on that door as well.

What tailgail seal are you referring too? This might be a good option to try as it's getting cooler and the squeaks are coming back for me.

I think it's extang. I got it on Amazon. I bought 2 rolls for my tailgate (which works awesome if you have a shell or bed cover) and tried the leftovers on the doors. Works great and blends in Nicely. I couldn't sleep at night with that hideous white tape these guys are using. The door feels more snug also.

The door is flattening out. Roll down the window and pull on the upper frame to bend it again. More weatherstripping will just flatten it even more. Don't slam the door.

Did you remove the existing weather stripping and how did you apply the tailgate seal?

First I’ve read of this theory. Makes me wonder if the “bro lean” could have something to do with this. And over time as the truck settles (and with the drivers seat ALWAYS having someone in it) maybe that settling cause a change in the friction where the door seal meets the “roof”.

I highly doubt this is the case for me considering the fact it's been doing this since the day I bought the truck brand new.

The top half of a door is weak and they can flex and open up. Maybe yours came already tweaked or just poorly fitted(do they QC in a wind tunnel?) in either case it can still flex since the continuous pressure is only one one side. I suppose you can change to a thicker gasket later on. You might check the hang of the door as well. I'm just providing some info, up to you to decide whether it applies to you.

I've messed with the hinges and took it to my painter who does custom show cars and he couldn't get it any better when he messed with it. Took the door off and tried everything he could to get it to stop and it's better, but still there. The drip line has helped the most for me so far. But as it gets colder the squeaks get worse. Summer time they are pretty much gone.

I've had a couple of trucks that this issue cropped up in and tweaking the door worked on both. Granted it's a small sample size so I'm suggesting it as a remedy rather than the only solution possible. If the gasket works long term great but if you find a draft becomes apparent a few years down the road you might remember this.

I didn't remove any weatherstripping. I just added the seal below the weatherstripping. It comes with 2 way tape already to stick on. And they come off easily and leave no residue if you need to peel and relocate it.

What method did you use to tweak the door? I'll give anything a shot to get the noise to go away.

Roll the window down, sit on the seat facing out with the door open, grab the top of the door, feet at the base of each window pillar, calibrated yank. It only takes a few mm's of tweak to eliminate the noise. Several bad things can happen to either the door or your back so tweak with caution. An overzealous yank might move the gap to the center and/or prevent the door from latching, pinch a window channel, slip a disc, whatever. I got so fed up with the noise I was willing to chance it and it worked.

So, I've mentioned that the drivers side door seal squeak is affected by the Recirculate function on the AC controls. Can't remember if recirculate on or off makes it go away or become less... but that's not important at the moment.

What I did just learn is that we have "cab vents" behind the rear seat in the double cabs (and other models, I assume). The function of the vents is self explanatory. But... if the recirculate function affects the door seal squeak, it makes sense that there's also an interplay with the cab vents. The vents are located in slightly different spots on different model years.

I stole these 3rd gen pics from another forum post... but use them here to illustrate the vents I'm referring to.

    Any thoughts???

My door squeak was present the day I bought it new. Since then I've sealed up those cab vents when I sound deadened the truck and the sound is the same. My thoughts would be the more sealed the cab is the worse the squeak would be since pressure would build up in the cab (if the windows are up). I can hear my squeak with the window down going 20mph.

I still want to try bending my door frame as @bagleboy mentioned I've just been nervous about doing it. I don't have a light touch when it comes to things like this. But I think that might be the cause to my problem as I'm running out of options.

You SOB it worked! I barley had to pull it but sure enough no more noise at all. Thanks for the directions on how to do this. Since 2011 it's been bugging me. I owe you a beer!

That's about how long I waited to try it the first time because it is so wrong but it does work. Mine weren't tacos so I'm clueless on calibrating the yank force but glad you started soft, the bummer would be going too far the first time.

It's a weird fix but after looking at it before and after it wasn't 100% flush with the back door when it was closed. So you called it, it was bent.

After bending it it's not flush but not sticking out past the back door anymore. Now it's in closer to the cab a bit. We are talking minuscule amount of space and I'll try and get pics of it tomorrow in the daylight. If I didn't point it out nobody would ever notice it. Either way the issue is fixed. I just went for a drive and turned off the radio, not a single peep out of it. So freaking excited!
