    I'm looking forward to option 3, pulling our trailer and option 1 for everyday driving.

    This is the best mod you can buy for your Tacoma. Unfortunately (fortunately?), I traded my truck and don't need mine anymore. Selling it in the classifieds section for $130 shipped. You'd still need to buy the new chip if you want all those extra options.

    @mods (if I am not allowed to do this kind of thing...my bad feel free to delete) I just figured these were the guys that would be most interested.

    We just returned from a 700 mile round trip towing our Jayco 1006 popup (roughly 2500 lbs loaded) through various terrain. On a previous trip using the v1 chip, I didn’t really care for the towing experience using the SSP.....since then, I’ve updated to the v2 chip. This time around I was really impressed at how well the truck behaved using SSP in program #3! Wow.

    Stock programming (without SSP) and towing at highway speeds in s5, the truck downshifts ok when necessary, but it always wants to upshift back to 5th prematurely.....the result is constant gear hunting, especially when ascending hills, etc. Using SSP in program #3, the downshift to 4th (doing highways speeds) occurs a bit earlier than stock, making for a smoother transition/shift....and then it holds 4th until you want it to upshift. Since 6th gear doesn’t get activated until around 77-78 mph in program #3, the truck never tries to upshift to 6th (if it does, you are towing your trailer way too fast!). The truck was actually a pleasure to tow with this time.

    Really liked the SSP since I got it last spring, but now even more with the updated v2 chip. Daily driving in program #1 suits me best and towing in program #3 is about as good as towing can get with this truck IMO!

    No. Didn’t feel it was necessary.

    It’s been my experience that using ECT with SSP sometimes results in the trucks programming wanting to downshift before the SSP wants to downshift....in other words, the truck is too eager to downshift with ECT on, so it’s kinda of overriding what the SSP wants to do.

    Personally, I like the throttle feel of ECT, but the shift points are just as weird as they are with it turned off. When ECT is on, it messes with what SSP is trying to fix. I used to tow without the SSP and in s5 with ECT on to alleviate that “foot to the floor” feeling when towing....but honestly the SSP in program #3 fixed that for me because the truck downshifts to 4th when it’s supposed to and doesn’t feel like it “lugging” before it shifts down to 4th. I doubt I’ll ever use ECT now.

    Ok, here are the results for the trip from Albuquerque, NM to San Diego, CA and back:

    2195 miles, at 75 mph in CA, and 80 mph in AZ and NM

    mean mileage = 18.55 mpg (6 fill-ups recorded)

    range = 17.97-19.37 mpg

    The Tacoma drove like a dream.

    Installed about a week ago and I am very happy with the results. Stuck it to the bottom of the Wireless charger box so its completely out of sight. No more gear hunting, high gear lugging at low speeds, or having to put it in S to shift it myself. Work commute is about 40 miles a day with a mix of city(25 to 45 mph) and highway(60 to 70 mph). Option#1 seems to be the best setting for me. Would recommend this mod to anyone not happy with the AT and wants a simple fix with no ECU re-tuning needed.

    Can you run a y dongle out to run shift sense pro and also a obdii transmitter for torque-pro simultaneously ?

    The directions say to not run a Y dongle. It may interfere with the shiftsense pro.

    Search this thread for "splitter".

    Fast-polling devices may cause issues when used at same time as SSP.

    No, not a Scangauge II. I just wanted a splitter for diagnostics without having to remove the ShiftSense connector.
