Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

I would hope everyone would be realistic regardless if he’s out of the office or not. Most people work from 9-5 and he works all the time. So I don’t think we could ever ask for better customer service. My original question regarding personal PMs is because I’ve PMd a couple times dating back like a couple months and haven’t received anything in return so I just wanted to see if I was missing on how to actually communicate with him to get questions answered. Thanks for everyone’s responses though. Greatly appreciate them.

 

I get email responses though rarely have PMd. Sometimes takes a few days on e-mails but he has yet to not respond even when I've just had a piece of feedback to share that I didn't request a response around. Good guy

 

My forum PM box is over 100 and alerts are 600+. Impossible for me to keep track through forum PM sorry. I try to respond when I can but email is the best.

I won't be completely "offline" during my trip and will update as I can.

 

Towed 1.5 tons yesterday and 1 ton today plus the trailer which is probably 1000lbs+ by itself.

1.02c is really good and I never felt like I was lacking power. Yesterday it was a 30 mile trip, mostly highway and I got 16mpg. Today was only about 15 and I got about the same. Both were mostly uphill on moderate grades.

The truck handled it well but my only gripe is not tune related. Reverse gearing is way too high and makes backing up a chore and taxing on the clutch. I had to get it close and straight then switch to 4LO so I didn't burn it up.

 

I had to do the same thing today hauling a cord of wood.

 

Will try to push through some updates tomorrow night (other side of the world tomorrow night)

Does this include those of us still waiting on the file to activate PCMflash?

 

Waiting patiently for this to go back up for sale. Hoping my patience pays off in the form of a more simplified flashing process.

 

Having trouble....
I think there is something I missed as I've got to the point where I'm in pcm flash and going to downloads to choose a file to load before writing but nothing shows...
If I backout and and go to downloads all the drivers, pcm flash, and 1.02c zip files etc. are all there but doesn't show in flash for me to choose ..?
Need help..

 

First off, I would NOT download the 1.02c files as a zip file from your email. Download them individually. In my case the decompression of the files from a zip caused an issue where a very minor checksum was off from decompressing and it wouldn't successfully load the tune. Also if you are looking at them IN a zip file you haven't decompressed it won't let you chose them either. Hope that helps some...

 

Be sure you tell PCMFlash to look at "All Files"

 

So when you go to the website to down load 1.02c files, open it there and download individually...?
it downloaded zipped but when I click on it to open it shows all 6 tunes.
I'll try the look at all files...

did you decompress/unzip that download in the same folder that the zipped
file landed in?

Perhaps this was a one-off but my mail client also downloaded them all as a zip file and while the files looked identical something weird happened with the checksums on them when they were compressed to a zip then subsequently decompressed and PCMFlash failed b/c the checksum could not be corrected (this is part of the "hack" the tune has to do in order for the ECU to accept the files). I thought my files were corrupt or that I was going to brick my ECU but I tried on a whim to download them individually without compressing them to a zip and it worked perfectly. Could have just been my experience but sharing nonetheless - I had to download all six individually.

When I get home I'll try again to select all files and if that doesn't work I'll try to decompress\unzip.

I had the same problem. Realized that when in PCMflash and searching for the tune file, nothing would show up in the folder I had placed them. Then saw the little tab at the bottom that said “data files”. Clicked that and changed to “all files” and boom....files show up.

 

How do you do that..?
When I go to the link for the files it only downloads as a zip.

 

on any zipped file, just right click on the file and choose to "expand/unzip all files here"
