Going to change the stock 31's to 35's and wanted to inquire on the re-gear numbers. I'm writing to those members who HAVE moved from 31 to 35's - Can the forum help me double check the numbers. Stock pinion/ring gear is 3.91 - moving from 31's to 35's I calculate a new gear match at 4.41. Is that right? What have others done here?

I'm pretty sure the stock carrier will work, based only on the product link I found below, indicating their new gears work with a stock carrier.

I looked up the stock differential gear online. It didn't indicate rear vs. front diff, but wouldn't these be the exactly the same? Also, I'm assuming I would have to re-gear front and rear. ;)

I haven't done a re-gear before so researching and learning as I go. If anyone has a recommendation on new pinion/ring and a local shop near Concord, CA to do it, please advise.

I found this online, thoughts welcome. Says its a 4.88 vs my calculated 4.41. https://www.nitro-gear.com/GPTACO2016-4-88-8-75-p/gptaco2016-4.88-8.75.htm

Yes, your front and rear gearing have to match...if you do one you have to do the other. Unless of course you have a 2wd.

I'm reading that there's an ongoing debate about running 4.56 (closer to stock) vs. 4.88 (little more get up and go, high rev top end). I'm a 3.5L A/T, forgot to mention.

Also, ECGS only seems to have the 4.88 for the 8.75 diff on the 3rd gen taco. ?

I hear 4.88 makes a built truck feel stock, and 4.56 makes it feel like stock gears with 33s. On a 2nd gen at least..
    I would still go 4.88 for a 3rd gen v6.
Is it an auto or manual?

I'm thinkin 4.88, and be Ok with higher revs on the freeway. Revs dont hurt engines as much as too much load. And I occasionally like to tow a motorcycle up to the track, so that's a plus. As long as shift point on the A/T are still good at 4.88.

There is no thinking. The only gears available are either from toyota (3.91 or 4.30) or the 4.88s from Nitro
