It sure seems that way. I found a forum all about what you can do with the F150. I started small, I just changed my dtrl from the low beams to the marker lights. The dealer wouldn't change them for me once I switched to HIDs so I found a work around. Some of things people are messing with is pretty nuts. Seems like you can really wreck your truck in a hurry if you're not careful.

    Commute is 15-20 minutes! :)

Those things aren’t helpful up here really. As the others pointed out, they help on diesels the most. I tried putting cardboard on my 4Runner and it actually ran colder for some reason.
I was thinking about jumping it too. Or installing a toggle switch to engage or disengage the override.

I have done some research myself. I found one system that was similar. You had to push the remote button, depress the clutch and brake, then engage the parking brake, then take your foot off the clutch to ensure it’s in neutral, then turn the key off and open the door. It has a safety setup so if someone opens the door, you have to repeat the activation process (because you can’t ensure someone didn’t put it in gear accidentally). Seems too annoying. I always leave my truck in neutral.

That’s awesome. Do you have any more info? Did you install yourself?

My FJ doesn’t have a chipped key.
My truck gets 11mpg, you think I care about it idling for 15 minutes? I’d rather be comfortable than worry about gas at $2.30 a gallon up here.

So you got foreskin for your Ferd?

In all seriousness, that sounds cool. What can you adjust about the vehicle?

You’ve gotta be able to save a baseline tune/map/file somehow. That way you can revert.

Swapped rear coils on my FJ today. Took out my 2” icon rear coils and installed 3.5” progressive metal tech springs.

Gotta put spacers on top of these springs too. I lost 1.5”!!!!

With icons I was 25.5” from fender to center of hub.

With metal tech I’m at 24”.

My trusty little hammer (to adjust coilovers with a punch). Also, osha approved footwear always.

Also dropped the coilovers as much as I could to even out the ride height.

I can adjust pretty much anything. As long is has he hardware to physically get it done and the ECU can control that function, I can modify it. People have programmed in a fog light anytime mod, disable chimes and speed limiters, one guy messed with the HVAC controls and had his vents blowing fog the air was so cold.
That's the beauty of it. I saved a base line, which is the as built file. With this program, I can reload the asbuilt and erase any trace that the truck was ever tuned. I don't intend to mess with my truck, frankly it scares me. I'm sure if you change the wrong line of code, it could be catastrophic to the truck. I'll stick to lighting and the tunes I purchased through reputable tuning shops. If I had downloaded this a long time ago, I could have activated my own remote start module and trailer brake controller rather than requiring a dealer to do it. Then, rewrite the asbuilt to make it look like it came that way from the factory.

BTW, 11 MPG from your FJ?!?! WTH are you doing to that thing??? I can almost get that dragging a 5k lb sail behind my V8.

Wow, that corolla looks so familiar. My next door neighbor ( his son ) I think, picked up a cheap toyota to play with on a dirt track. It looks like his son driving. I'm pretty sure it's green too

Do Fords have the "checksum" problem that some tuned vehicles have in that the ECU keeps count of how many times it's been flashed? Back in my Subaru days there was always a back and forth of whether or not those cars had a checksum that a tech's computer could see. I forget what the ultimate belief was, but it was interesting to debate.

They do, but if I'm reading correctly, if you recreate the asbuilt file and upload it, you can erase that bit. Right now, you can see how many times my truck has been tuned, I'm still researching but it seems like I can return it to stock, upload an asbuilt file and erase any alterations that have ever been made to the truck. At this point, I'm not sure why I would ever need to do that. It's tuned, out of warranty and running fine. When I trade it, I'll return it to stock and sell the tuner, at that time, I don't care if the next tech to look at it can tell it was tuned in the past but I can see that being a useful feature to someone still under warranty.

This is still all new to me, I'm just starting to research it.

With the warranty gone it's a non-issue. Where I've seen it come into play is when people flash cars that still are under warranty and try to flash back to stock prior to going in for service.
