Had one of my hoses replaced on air condition unit . Turned it on today and now the ac light flashes and got no cold air. Ac light flashes also when defrost is turned on . Had this done at the dealer a couple of weeks ago when they changed out my rear leafs. What am I in for now. I paid almost 600 for the hose, labour and recharge the system.

Take it back to the dealer and tell them that their $600 repair only lasted 2 weeks and they need to take care of it.

Most likely the R134A leaked out. Most likely they did a poor job.

Sounds like the compressor clutch is taking a shit.

I had the same symptoms on my 2013 with 55000 miles on it! The compressor grenade and debris got into all the lines. Light flashed, no cold air. Toyota replaced the compressor and all the lines for just under $2500. Thank God I have a warranty. Good luck to you. FWIW Toyota's policy on bad compressors is that they change out the lines as well so that debris doesn't do further damage .

You can drive it no problem, just won't have cold air, obviously.

The lines are not that expensive. If the compressor died, just change out as much lines as possible. Still should be less than $100 for all the lines.

I had the lower line, that's what they said . Installed and the system recharged . Cost almost 600. I live in Nova Scotia. Now I got a bad compressor ,I wonder how much they will say to fix that puppy.

I got an appointment to see what's up with my air. I hear a compressor is 500 . So if the compressor is toast, What should I be replacing to go with it? I want to do this right the first time. The truck is 2010, love my taco...

You can get the compressor for $250 if you buy it yourself, unfortunately the shop will source it and they always mark up parts. It's normal to do that. So, $500 is a decent price for the compressor.

The biggest expense will be labor. If the compressor did die, there will be debris in the system. Cleaning the system is labor intensive.
