Im waiting for my hybrid winch bumper to come and more than likely going with a smittybuilt 10k winch hidden in there unless someone else has recommendations under $500. My question which I cant seem to find any info on is:

How do you maintain, inspect, clean winch when its stuffed back behind the bumper. The ones on jeeps exposed seem much more easy to operate

You'll have to pull it to do a proper inspection/service/cleaning on it. But with the winch being behind the bumper it will be much more protected than the exposed winch seen on jeeps.

I built a plywood stand on 4 swivel casters to hold my bumper and winch. I put a floor jack under the truck, raise it MAYBE an inch, put the stand under the bumper, then lower the jack. The winch will be at the exact height on the stand that it is on the truck without support (bolted to frame) Then unbolt the bumper and roll it away from the front of the truck. Allows service/inspection of the winch, as well as easy access to everything behind the bumper. It takes about 10 minutes to roll it away, and maybe 15 to re-install.

No pictures except somewhere deep in my build thread (2nd gen builds....Installed around early August of this year. )
