Were the Rigid fog lights PLUG AND PLAY? I've asked two parts guys and I get a deer in the headlights look! I'm guessing being the guy behind the parts counter no longer requires brain cells?

OK, here's a real stumper for everyone!

I have a 2017 Limited just a few weeks old. The tailgate lock is not connected the the rest of the power locks (totally stupid) and obviously requires an old fashion key. I also have the "Smart Key" that's dumb as a box of rocks! It's not my Lexus or Mercedes I know where I can touch any door to open her up.

So here's the rub. When I bought the truck it came with two smart fobs and one unchipped real key that's "laser" cut! I surmise the key is used to lock and unlock the bed vs. trying to use the key that's inside the fob that looks like it's good for just an emergency and nothing else? With that said. How does one make another key?

I've been two two dealers The one i bought it from and the one that will service the truck and both time have gotten nowhere with getting another one. They both asked where I got the key. It came with the truck. No the good fairy dropped it off just for me. The 2016 I had had the same set up. This is not rocket science now.

So how does one get another key made? Locksmith says dealer. Dealer doesn't know crap! Like the fog lights they are dumier than my remote is! I'm not impressed with how any of this is going! One would think they just invented the damn truck the way they are acting!! Drives me bat shit crazy!

On my SR5 the same cut key opens the door, the tailgate and starts the truck.

Try your fob valet key, it should open the door and tailgate.

Yep, I think this was a change from 2016-2017. The key inside your fob is the same as the third "unchipped real" key. But yes, kind of strange that power lock on the tailgate isn't a standard feature. Sure, there are pretty easy aftermarket solutions but this should be standard with power door locks.

The third key does open the truck and lock/unlocks the glove box and lock/unlock the tailgate nothing else. Since I have a smart fob or keyless entry and keyless start the key does nothing to start the truck. Just adds weight to the key ring!!

What I was trying to do was get a 4th key to put on the other key ring as I keep a set at work and at home. We have missing key issues at home. They see the extra set and off they go missing. When there is only one set they won't walk. Strange how that works?

So I asked the parts guy if I could get another key made. I was paying for it, not looking for a free hand out!! Sure, then I handed over the key and got the dead pan stare! Then asked where I got the key from. I got it with the purchase. Same with the 2016 I had. At that point all bets were off! Communications stopped. I'm at a stand still.

OK, what do other people do or who do I need to know?
