I've had our 2500HD for almost ten years and 140K miles and only replaced one glow plug and some oil. It also gets 20mpg if you have a light foot, with 480hp. Toyota has the reliability down, they just can't figure out the power/mileage equation. I've got as low as 5mpg in my Landcruiser pulling a couple of quads on the freeway. Nothing is wrong with it, that's just how they are.

I could be speaking out my ass on this since I've never been overseas, but are you sure it's not just a Toyota USA issue? I wonder how we'd fare with eastern hemisphere equivalents of what is offered here.

Does anyone know of some free, easy access camping near Pendleton? The closer to I84 the better. I'll be passing through on Thursday night and I'll need a quick spot to pop the RTT for a few hours. @username

I've moved back to WA-- Tacoma to be exact.
People look at me crazy when I say I missed the rain.

Also if anyone has, or knows or a car for sale I would greatly appreciate it.
Now that we're back, the wife and I are figuring out we really need a RELIABLE second vehicle.

    Honda Civic or Toyota Camry
    100-150k miles
    4 door
    No mechanical issues

Looking to spend $1,000-2,000 ... of course there's a little wiggle room, not a lot

Let me know if you, or anyone you know is trying to sell. Thanks!!!!!

Walmart. You might even get lucky and see a bum fight. If you want to camp in the woods take the Summit road exit east of Meacham and head North. It's about 1000 yards till you hit National Forest, camp anywhere you please. There is a pack of wolves in the area, keep your doggos on a leash and keep a sidearm handy.

They're asshole wolves too. Killed 30 sheep in one night a while back and have been killing cattle regularly. What I mean is they are not scared of humans. There used to be moose up there, but I haven't seen one in about three years. I used to see them regularly. It is kinda cool to hear them howl at night though, and an interesting experience.

Damn. That'll be enough to keep me up all night. I was planning on bringing a sidearm anyways but still kind of scary. I won't be able to mention this to my wife otherwise we'll be sleeping in the walmart parking lot for sure.

Oh, don't be scared of them if you have a pea shooter. I had an encounter and all I had was a bow, and a couple of arrows. By myself at dusk, on the edge of a meadow with elk milling all around me. I heard the first one about 100 yards behind me, and the second one answered 100 yards in front. The elk fell silent. I did too. I then realized that the pack had moved in around me without my sensing them in any way. It was dry and crunchy too. As darkness fell I realized all of the elk had left the area, but the wolves were still there. I simulated their howl, loud, low, and with all of my breath. They responded and it was fascinating. Shortly after they were gone and I stumbled back to the Landcruiser in darkness, questioning my fitness as an apex predator. I still wonder what would have happened if I didn't howl. What if I screamed like a girl and ran? For sure if I popped off a round they would have boogied, but it was a cool experience and I wasn't scared. Maybe I should have been, I dunno.

That is crazy! I hate to admit it but you are way more badass than I will ever be. I have no idea what I'd have done in that situation. Good to know that the XD9 will keep me safe though.

Eh, they're just dogs. Chances are they won't be that close to the freeway, but my buddy is a UPS driver and sees them up there sometimes. Just thought I'd let you know. Some people have no idea they are that close to town.
