Random decision time here. Replacing the stock duelers... Should I go with Michelin Defenders for $880 out the door or Cooper discoverers A/T for $430 shipped to my house and then have them installed somewhere for whatever that will cost? I know they are two different beasts altogether, but man money talks...

Mostly will be used for in town and highway, possibly some snow and a lot of rain (PNW) and some light forest roads in the summer.

    What would you do?

Sounds cheap for the Coopers. Add another 100-150 bucks to have them mounted and balanced. I'm sure the Cooper are much better for snow and rain. Another difference is if you buy them from a shop there are probably warranty services offered. ( rotates, balances, flat repairs that will not come with the Cooper

These are actually two very different tires. If you are talking about the Discoverer AT3 then they are far more aggressive than the Michelin tires. Even though the AT3 and Michelin AT2 are both AT tires the Cooper’s are far better off road. I owned both on my second gen and it depends on what you need. The Michelin is the better riding tire and I also found it to be better in the rain. The Cooper was a surprisingly good tire off-road and it still had good street manners. The Michelin was far quieter. If you need something that will be decent for light to moderate off-roading then go Cooper. If you want something for mostly highway driving and then some light off-roading then go Michelin. I will say the Michelin tires balanced better for me but the Coopers were good tires as well.
