Not going to lie, my wife blames Hawaii and Kauai in general for me buying a Tacoma. I was okay driving my Acura TSX until our honeymoon in Hawaii.

I went to Kauai last year and all I saw was lifted Tacomas also. Love that place and the food.

Like you, saw tons of Tacomas while in Kauai. Even ran across this on the North Shore:

Historians say it is original to the early island inhabitants, who floated their Tacomas on ancient outrigger canoes to the new island.

 

I don’t know what it means. I’ll be honest, I don’t think anyone knows what it means anymore. Scholars maintain that the translation was lost hundreds of years ago.

 

I saw a few articles about this subject. Primarily, the stalls are narrow in many parking lots sob it’s easier to reverse park instead of doing a 20 point turn (read: Austin powers) to be in the lines.

 

Pretty sure that island is my favorite place in the world.

Aha thats funny were on big island right now! Never seen so many tacomas! Definitely have their own "flavor" here..

 

Tacomas are a dime a dozen here in Hawaii on EVERY island. I was on the freeway on Sunday following 3 of them and 2 behind me, it was a Taco parade, until a frontier cut in front of one of the tacomas...LOL

 

Please tell me there is an "Island Hoppers" Tacoma somewhere there with matching paint...
