What a pain in the ass this company is to deal with.

So, I got the free trial when I got my truck, it's ok but not worth 30 bucks a month to me. Trial expired, got lots of please come back Mail, one final caught my eye. They offered 6 months from the truck and online for like 30 bucks or something. So I call to activate, get a run around, takes me like an hour and lots of frustration. But finally gets sorted out after being told that is not a real offer.
So, it works like shit in my truck, every overpass I go under it cuts out, reallybsucks when I'm on the highway when I want it most. Not to mention tall buildings, you know like 3 story ones also seem to interfer. But at 5 bucks a month, I'm not going to bitch.
Well I get a bill in the mail, 30 bucks for the next month, get an email today same deal. So I called to cancel. After 30 minutes of trying to convince me to stay, it takes me just about yelling, I don't want to pay for this anymore and I finally hang up.
Tonight I get an email telling me it's cancelled, but have a credit for like 12 bucks, but it's not refundable. So I call them again, ask them about the credit and why can't the use that up and then cancel. Well a few minutes later the rep comes back and tells more the credit has been removed and my account is canceled?

I don't understand WTF happened, but don't see myself giving them a dime ever again.

weird. i subscribe and use it about daily. but i cancelled twice and it eventually got me a basic subscription (i just listen to a couple handfuls of channels) for $14.99/mo iirc. I'd say it's worth that at the maximum because of the music repetition is so much and i don't much listen to talk.

i personally wouldn't have a problem moving along since there's other options. but i haven't tried any recently except Google music. it's pretty good but no app and lots 'o data..

Never had a problem with them. Only annoying thing I’ve had to deal with was transferring a lifetime subscription because apparently it was bought after 2005 or whatever and they only do it 3x max and it costs like $75. Bunch of BS.

But otherwise I’m happy with it.

Service cutting out is an antenna issue. Only time my service cuts out is under bridges and once in a while when I’m driving along a road with 40ft+ tall trees along it. I run a TRAM nmo style Sirius Antenna and it’s been great.

Edit: their problem is they behave like a scumbag cable company when they should be operating like a modern day subscription service like Netflix or somethings. Just make it user friendly no phone call customer service bullshit type system.

Almost ever underpass, and yes be straight forward. Guess the antenna issue is something I tell my service? Figured it was their shit satellites.

Just in my experience the little puck that comes with the tuner sucks ass. But i guess you are referring to the stock Tacoma Antenna. 2013 Tacos got the shaft from Toyota with sat capability deleted for the model year, so all my satellite shit is non OEM lol.

I commute from the suburbs to the big city and only have my XM go out at a couple spots in the city where there are big Bldgs, and maybe for a split second under an overpass but it's rare and not often at all. I like it. The commercials are kinda annoying now as it used to be commercial free way back wasn't it?

I have the basic plan on my taco which I prepaid for an extra 5 months after my free 3 months expire and I pay for the all access plan (top plan??) on my wife's toyota (so I can use the app and listen at work or the gym or wherever).

I have never and I repeat never paid anywhere close to full price for my Sirius XM and I have had it for many a years in a lot of different cars.

    Here's what you do:

Call them and ask to speak to customer retention, truthfully my last 2 times calling the first person that answered was able to hook me up without customer retention..yeah they somehow always seem to have heavy Indian accents (outsourced??) but they were always very nice and never did me wrong so I can't complain.

Then tell them you want the basic plan (or ask for the all access if you need it) and ask for the 5 month plan, sometimes the 6 month plan is as good but pls compare. Make sure you ask for the total price INCLUDING fees and taxes.

Be aware they will probably initially offer you a year long (12 mo) plan but ask for the 5 or 6 month plan and simply divide the total out the door price by the months you are agreeing to and that way you know your best plan. It literally takes about a Min. Lol. Most likely the 12 month plan is quite a bit more pricy than the 5/6 plan.

$6 a month is about right out the door for basic and $10 I think if I'm not mistaken is right for what I'm paying for the all access (it was less than $60 for 6 months all access I believe). Well worth it for me and the wife. My kid loves Disney XD too. LOL.

So to cap it off, call, request the best price available or idly mention cancelling and they will absolutely offer you the no shit best price avail. My last phone call to them a couple weeks back to renew my all access was less than 10 mins total...never pay full price. I simply put the date in my IPhone calendar to remind my self to call every 5/6 months and I do it again. Never an issue.

    Good luck.

Edit: if they start trying to sell you a stupid receiver or radio just say no a couple times and they should shut up and get the hint. Haha.

I have had Sirius XM for years and pay $25.00 to $30.00 every 6 months.

Just tell them you like Pandora or ??? better and are going to quit ... and do NOT forget to quit each time ... a day or 2 BEFORE your 6 months are up ... and renew again ... have done this for at least 10 years.

First rule of a subscription service: If you can't cancel online it's not worth it.

They email me every day with the $5/month offer. Only reason I don't unsubscribe from the emails is because I want to know when they have their free weeks. I think the service is decent enough. But not competitive with other streaming services (Google, Spotify, iTunes, Pandora, etc, etc). The Tacoma antenna is bad, but you'll always have interference issues with sat radio regardless.

    Speaking of bullshit.

I'm about to cancel my dammed Verizon cable service and just keep Internet. Cut that cable!! They just raised my plan to $218 from a year of it being $200 a month (yeah I have a couple extra channels like hbo and showtime but wtf)..

I think I'll be fine with Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and I'll prob get an HD receiver for local channels.

Between cable and cell phone bill it's like an expensive car payment!!

I just went through this shit with Comcast except being that I’m busy as shit with grad school and my wife was dealing with cable bills I was on autopilot until she told me the bill had gone up to $180 for no reason. So I called and find out that she was put into a 2 year contract...TWICE, without consent. And that our introductory rate had since expired for the first year of service or whatever, of this second 2 year contract we were put in. She had asked them sinply to transfer service to new addresses not setup a new term agreement. We’ve had Comcast for like 3.5 years now. So i tried to talk them down on the bill to get it back to what it was and they weren’t budging.

So I canceled, went with a different cable company for faster internet at half the cost. And went with Direct TV Now using our Apple tv’s. Have been super pleased with everything now. We’re paying about what we were for basic cable+internet that we had before with the same channels essentially (not paying for any daytime TV infomercial bullshit or whatever other else filler channels)

Plus I’m not paying for sports. I don’t give a damn about ESPN. So that saves money.

But same thing. We have Netflix/Amazon prime and about to get rid of Hulu. This way we can subscribe to stuff if the months lineup looks good and cancel whenever it looks like shit which a lot of these services have highs/lows month to month anyway.

Yep, never been a satellite fan, so I wouldn't install anything extra on a vehicle for it. Always had CDs or digital music, my iPod Classic 160 gig was always pretty much full. But there are a few stations I enjoyed.
    13/almost 14 and 11/almost 12 year olds, I understand.

Cancelled cable, every few months bought a new streaming device (Roku or Apple TV) until I'll the tvs all had a device, did this few years ago. Soon cable companies will provide internet, and we will pay to stream what we choose. The price of cable tv is out of control.

It works fairly consistently in my truck, only cuts out if I get stuck under a bridge for a bit; and I like it pretty much solely for octane, as there are no good rock stations in my area whatsoever. Though while it comes in clear, it does bug me that it comes in fairly lo-fi. Hear a song on xm, then play the same song over bt or usb via iTunes, Amazon music, etc... and you will notice a big difference in sound quality (higher highs, lower lows, and less compressed/muted sounding).

I also had to go through all that long and drawn out bs as well, when I went to cancel in my wife’s car who wasn’t using it. Not to mention the almost daily letters, emails, and even multiple phone calls afterwards , trying to get us to reactivate it.

Yep on quality, I'll have to talk to service about my antenna, it stood out to me if an overpass didn't interfere, and I never was under any for long, my foot is heavy.
