Thinking about selling my cap since another one came up that's color matched and has windoors, which I'd love. I can't remember if it's an ARE or LEER off the top of my head since I bought it second hand :anonymous:

It's structurally sound, has a new front window, new struts, new locking mechanism, and new screens in the windows. Also has the tracks in the top for a rack. Supported my RTT just fine. It was originally red but painted over black, and is in decent condition. Has a couple chips and scratches. Only putting out a feeler as of now, but it'd be for sale for around $400. Could also include the rack and lights at $600.

Drive that down also. That cap is already color matched for my TacomA

*Edit strap the cap with the RTT to the Goose. Save some gas

The rack is a DIY version following this thread. Cost a little over $200 in raw material to build, but it's pretty solid.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ermbs-d-i-y-rack-system-build.433500/

For the lights, they're just some cheap $30 Amazon spot lights, but they're bright! All the wiring is soldered, heat shrunk and covered in braided wire loom.

EDIT: Also the cap I'm interested in is in NC as well, so we may be able to work something out.

How are the seals any leaks? Have the key for the lock? How is the rear glass seal to tailgate? How many crossbars are on the rack?

Seals are good, but could be better. The front rail is hard to seal up, so I think the front corners leak. I'm not sure though because I have a platform in the rear so if any water gets in it'll run down.

I have two keys for the lock, and it's smooth locking. The rear glass seals well. The previous owner replaced the part that overlaps the tailgate. He replaced it with aluminum, making it stronger than the plastic that's usually on there.

There are 5 crossbars on the rack itself.

Front rail is hard to seal, the part that the rack bolts to? Do the side windows leak at all?

OH, I thought you were talking about how well the cap seals to the truck itself. There are no leaks at all coming from the rails on the roof that I'm aware of. No leaks on the side windows either.

Keep in mind, I haven't done any serious leak testing on this. I haven't laid in the rack while someone else sprays it with a hose to look for leaks. I just know that I haven't found any water inside after I wash it or it rains. I could do that though if needed.

Sounds good. If your windows leaked you would know it because after a hard rain there would be quite a bit of water in the bed that's usually where the water comes from.

    Is the inside carpeted?

Keep in mind I have a platform in the rear that would hide any water leakage. I don't think it's leaking though because I've had the windows apart to screen them and everything seemed solid.

No, the inside is bare fiberglass. I did scrub it with a brush and soapy water to clean it up though.

I am really interested where does the other guy live that you wanted his topper? That looks like a sweet deal for that one as well. When would you be coming down here for it?

The other one is near Mooresville, NC so not too far from you. The way it's looking is I'd drive down to him to get his cap, so you could come meet me as well to pick up this one. If you end up really wanting this, I'll send you A LOT of pics via PM to be as transparent as possible, since this is a less than perfect cap and the price reflects that. Would you want the rack and lights as well? I'd give you the wiring as well, minus the switch. You'd just need a switch and wiring from the switch to the battery.

Looks like you might have a deal in the works but if it falls through...I'll be in NOVA the week of Thanksgiving. I might be interested.
