Ok so I’m getting ready to service my tranny. I have 195k on the truck. I bought it with 188k. I’ve since changed every fluid on the truck except the transmission. That said I’m not sure if it’s ever been flushed or changed. I’m assuming it has because records were pretty thorough but not sure. My question is should I drain and fill, flush on my own it power flush at aamco? Not having any issues at all and shifts flawlessly. Also which fluid do y’all all recommend. Thanks guys.

I would do a full flush, pan drop, gasket change etc. just good peice of mind when you don't know how the truck was cared for.

I wouldn't let those people clean my windshield let alone power flush a transmission.

I’m leaning towards the flush on my own from the diy post on here. It’s a flush but doesn’t seem like a forceful one you’d get at a dealer that has cause so many issues in the past on high mileage vehicles. Do you guys just use the toyota brand from the dealer or something else?

Yep - do-it-yourself. I've used the MaxLife ATF and Walmarts Dex-VI which both claim to be WS compatible on a couple of other Toyota vehicles which require Toyota WS transmission fluid. If you want to use the dealer fluid check out ebay. I've found it there for $3-$4 a qt. less than what local dealers want.

If it were my truck with the mileage you indicate, I would pull and clean pan first before starting and while the pan is off, remove the filter and blast it out with brake parts cleaner or some other solvent. Use new pan gasket.
