These transmissions are notoriously garbage. Does it feel like you are getting rear-ended when you stop or is it obviously down-shifting like 15 year old learning to drive stick (badly)? You could be low on fluid from the factory or need the newest software( but if its just 4 months old you should have it).

It’s the slip yolk, usually happens the first stop when cold. I noticed it rarely happens if I back-in a parking spot/driveway and drive forward only in the morning.

If that's the case, I guess we gotta drill and install a zerk in there, right..??

Could be transmission or driveline related.
Trying stopping in S1, S4+, and D; see if you notice any difference.

I have felt the clunk a couple times (1500 miles on my 2017 so far) but that's it. It is not all the time. It honestly feels like the transmission is just trying to downshift really quick when it knows it should not be in such a high gear at a such a low speed and is desperately trying to quickly downshift.

I guess if you're driving situation is different it could possibly happen more often?

Either way I still really like my new truck.

It was present in my '16 and also experience it in the same manner in my '17. Chevy's have this problem as well. Toyota drilled a hole in another member's driveshaft to let air escape and the problem went away. He of course only went ahead w/ the procedure after they guaranteed they'd cover the driveshaft if it rusted. Paraphrasing response. Brake hard early your first stop then coast, coming to a slow stop, you won't experience it. Not ideal, but I live w/ it, hopefully it will break in.

Just curious, to the OP and others, are you coming in “hot” and on brake when it happens, or slower? I’m a pretty “calm” driver and haven’t experienced this issue with about 1,300 miles on the odo.

Guaranteed, somewhat hot, usually in the morn on the way to work when trying to beat the crazies. Enough to be in 3rd or 4th gear when stopping. That’s when it happens to me. I’ve grown to live with it and drive it easy first couple stops, won’t happen.

I have this too. It's the downshift into third gear and usually happens in on my drives home from work (as some sort of weird response to stop and go traffic). It doesn't matter if I'm hot braking or braking like my grandmother is in the truck. I'm hoping the OVTune helps or I'm done with the Taco. I have 22k on mine and have had it at the dealer numerous times. I've also had it at the independent trans shop that rebuilt my f150 trans back in the day. They manually checked the trans fluid level and everything.

Anyone have experience with the @OVTune solving this issue?

My truck will usually give a weird downshift after I pull out of my driveway, when the truck is cold. I will accelerate to about 30, take my foot off the gas, and it jumps down a gear for some reason and then levels itself out. Usually only does it once, and then it works fine. The truck has always done it, I just figured it was the transmission being a little wonky when it was cold, many transmissions act a little funny at first.

I read that it is due to the new 6 speed and how it downshifts. As weird as this sounds, Its caused when the transmission shifts from 3rd>2nd>1st. Normally it goes from 3rd>1st smoothly but when it goes through all 3 to quick you can feel the jerk. Ill try to find the article, might have been posted by the guy who designed the shift sense pro device.

I have this issue on my 2016 V6 Sport. Have had since day one. Dealership thinks I am crazy as they can't duplicate. It happens mostly when coasting to stop vs. hard braking.

Mine did this as well. I only ever really noticed it in stop and go traffic which I drive in everyday. Odd thing was it would mainly happen on my way home from work not on the way to work.

Mine usually happens every day on way home from work same spot. Is a 25mph rd slight down grade. Radar sits on the road often so I try my best to coast at 25mph with out toasting my brakes but most days when I start breaking I feel the down shift. Very weird but maybe the next trans flash will fix it. who knows.
