on my 2004 Tacoma, the trim at the bottom of the window is peeling up....it is the thick piece with the felt type piece that goes up against the window....it seems to be chrome with a thick black coating. The coating is thick and literally peeling up, which would make it difficult to paint without getting it completely off...and don't know how well the paint would stick to the chrome under it...
So is this piece easy to just replace.?
If so where can I get it from without going to Toyota

Each window side runs about $30 at the dealer, there's a thread around here somewhere where this has been discussed.
Even removing the item for painting would be better than masking off the truck IMO.

The new ones would come with new weatherstripping for the outer surface of the window ;-)

I replaced the front and back pieces about 2 months ago. I almost painted them, but the rubber piece that hugs the window was hard / brittle so I replaced with new ones.
Not hard to do. They bend easy, so take your time.
I'd get a price from TW Member Gary (gunny1005). Awesome guy to deal with when it comes to ordering new oem parts.
