Navigation system and topo maps

Anyone know if you can use an SD card with a topo map loaded on it, and load it into the navigation system of the truck?

 

No, the system won't read the card.

 

Didn't think so.....although prolly be a good feature for a truck, considering off roading and such lol

 

Edit: Apologies, I didn't realize I was replying to a 3rd-gen thread (I've a lowly 2nd gen tacoma).
This would still work, though custom dash-bezels may be a lot harder to find for a while.

Not much (any) help for you, if you have the OEM NAV system, but I installed a

JOYING Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Double 2 Din Aftermarket Head Unit Quad Core 1024600 HD Capacitive Touch Screen Car Stereo in Dash Radio Receiver GPS Navigation System with a Rear Camera

7" touch-screen Android based head-unit (there are many choices) and then BackCountry Navigator. Download the topo maps of your choice (some of which are not free).

$300ish for both.

It works well and the installation was easy, but the integration with the dash bezel was not perfect (I blame the bezel mgf as the opening that was described as double-din was significantly smaller and required significant dremeling to open up). Better is this is just a standard android based system; You can install any android apps you want. Less awesome is it's not so great in direct sunlight, but then I haven't seen any OEM screens that are either.

 

Thanks. My truck is still under warranty, so wouldn't install anything until after its up. My Garmin will have to do the trick for now. It does look pretty cool though, can you run all the same as the stock unit through it?
