    I bought a 79 4X4 new that year. [first year Toyota 4X4 in US] It was just over $7600 drive out. Suspension was brutally rough but it was almost unstickable.

    I bought one that year also. From what was told the only Toyota FWD pickup previous to that had a Wolverine kit installed in California. As you said it was unstickable, although it only had a 95hp engine. Mine came with a 436 gear so it wasn't the fastest thing on the road but it would climb a tree if it could get traction.:)
