I had 16” rims in my truck, and I switch to 17” 4Runner rims. I want a 17” spare tire. Will a 17” 4Runner spare tire/rim fit underneath (spare tire holder) on my 2009 Tacoma?

    Thanks in advance

It should if youre running factory tire size. The rim wouldnt be a problem as much as the tire size will. But ive seen people fit 33" tires under there too so it can be done

My original tire size was 245/70/16 and I’m looking to going to a 265/70/17 spare

Installed Overhead Compass and Temperature Display along with outside temperature sensor and wiring; LED lights reverse backup; LED license plate lights; Added GTA Bluetooth Audio kit to stock radio for iphone audio; Spare tire steel braided air hose extension connection to rear bumper; Installed new headlights along with new bulbs PIAA H4 XTreme and for fog lights PIAA H10 XTreme bulbs. Installed new hood with "hood-scoop". Installed Predator Side Steps. Replaced front chrome grill with customized color matched (Desert Sand Mica) grill with added TOYOTA lettering (also in matched color), installed and secured tailgate anti-theft devices. Also installed a new external TPMS monitor for all 4 tires.

Yes it will.....or should I say "should fit".

To be more specific, the rim you are going to use will work fine. If the tire you put on that rim is larger in diameter than a 265/70/17, you may have to gently modify the spare tire retainer tabs with a BFH (big fucking hammer). I say gently, because it's easy to over do this modification and end up with your spare wedged between your rear diff and the truck bed. This severely impacts the articulation of your suspension and the smoothness of the truck's ride.

Hey Tex that’s a great idea with the air hose! Thanks for directing me to the links.

Pigpen, Would that be considered air ride then? Ha ha. Thanks for the info!
