Hey so i have a 2000 tacoma sr5. The truck engine runs fine when i start and go. Once i make a stop (ie to put gas) then start it up it hestiates to accelerate and rpms drop i have to floor the gas for it to pick up. Once the truck does this once it wont do it again for as long as its on. If i turn it off and on again it will do the same thing. One time it didnt want to move at all i plugged in obd2 scanner and got two codes one for MAF sensor and one for o2 sensors. I replaced maf sensor and disconmected battery to reset computer. Truck started runnin but still does same thing. I replaced sparkplugs amd wires. Truck has straight pipe (no cats). I need help do you guys think its o2 sensors/ no cats, vacuum leak, throttle body, tranny problem etc??? Please and thanks any help is appreciated. (Truck is 5 speed manual 4x4 shifts good and clutch works fine)

Almost sounds like a throttle position sensor, but may be a really dirty/half clogged fuel filter.. You'll always get the o2 sensor codes without a cat in it, even if you replace the o2 sensors..

Oh and also i forgot to mention the truck sometimes hesitates to start but it has never once not started but it sounds like its not getting fuel or air. Truck also idles funky it will start at about 1500 rpm then drop to 800rpm and sometimes it will drop to 500 then go back to 800

That sounds like a dirty throttle body/idle air control valve, you can take the throttle body off and clean it really good with throttle body cleaner(I would personally use 3M throttle cleaner), but while you have it off I would replace the throttle position sensor with a OEM sensor ( around ~$65- $70)

Yeah the aftermarket ones are cheap and you'll be lucky it works for a week after you install it, I believe the OEM ones are a few bucks cheaper than the aftermarket brands.

So my old 97 4Runner with the same 3.4 engine had a similar issue. Even the dealer made me dump money into a new MAF sensor, injector cleaning, and a bunch of other stuff to get the bill into the $600 range but it never was resolved. Never been back. It ran fine until you turned it off and restarted when hot. One day I was watching or reading something about the coolant temp sensor giving the computer fits. For a $15 sensor I thought I would give it a try. It's a PITA to take it out on top of the intake manifold in front but I did it. This fixed the problem and my son has been drive it for maybe 10 years without an issue.

I'm interested as well, have some similar issues. Curious to see this resolved. Might buy a throttle position sensor.
