Modified the level of gas in the tank
Sounds like she's in good hands...doubt you/she and the other will muck it up.

All tsb's and recalls will have been addressed before purchased.

Just test drive it in the type of conditions it will be driven in. You know Toyotas, you'll know what's a keeper.

    P.S. get 6MT

The experience from my 17 sr5
Look for this On the test drive. Start off from a stop sign or green light and then let off the gas. Like you were second in line and the car in front of you isn't going as fast as you are, so you let off the gas instead of hit the brake. Then gently get back into the throttle (do not stomp or press hard). When this is done the engine will flare ( give you gas to the engine but, no forward momentum). Transmission needs a second or three to down shift a gear or 2. The other flare in my truck is going downhill, coming to a stop or a very slow roll, then push the gas pedal and the engine will rev but transmission isn't engaged.

Also I would have them engage the ECT button while driving and then disengage and drive some more and repeat a couple of times. I found it makes the truck kind of jumpy, twitchy with throttle response under 35 - 40 mph (best I can describe).

Just do the usual test drive stuff. They’re still new enough that you’ll have warranty coverage to cover the big deals.

Do a long and thorough walk around. Look for paint defects/damage, wheel damage, interior scuffs, etc...all the little stuff that you can’t have covered by the warranty but can easily avoid if you discover them now.

Tons of flood cars from the recent storm; don't by anything other than new if you don't get it inspected. Some states still wash titles, so carfax is clean even on the frickin U-Boats.

Yeah that’s very illegal. Not saying it doesn’t happen but I wouldn’t expect any reputable dealer to try that shit

I believe op said the sales guy/ manager is his neighbor...so I am guessing he ( sales) will do the right thing vs having to come home and deal with the angry hostile environment it could be if the ops' future sil and daughter are not happy.

    I wouldn’t let me daughter buy a 2wd truck.
4wd is what they are gonna regret not getting. Of course this is my opinion.

honestly, get an SR5 if you can. I mean, brand new they shouldn't be much more than what the used sport is going for. I say this because I have a 4wd off road. I love it, but if i could do it again, i would get the SR5 4wd. Bigger tires, better rims, better suspensions, lifts, can all be bought for less than what I paid for my off road. I used the locking diff maybe twice since i got it and honestly the situation could have been avoided if i wasn't trying to be a tard. The MTS is nice, but the only reason i use it, is cus i have it. I now i dont' need it and honestly, it is just another thing to break.

If you decided to go with the Sport, also listen to for a howling sound coming from the lower control arms. They might have fixed it by the time yours was produced, but if not, get them to do the TSB

    good luck man.

Why not just buy a new one, 17s are still on the lot and l doubt the price would be much different than used.

Pull all service records and carfax. Look underneath for any damage. Do a cold start on each engine (not warmed up by dealer) and drive until completely warmed up. Test every button/switch there is. Test HVAC system thoroughly. Then price out a new 17 and see what the price difference will be. Some good deals on new ones sitting on dealer lots.
