A local guy came and picked this up today. Thanks, @zerotimeouts ! That RTT is going to be awesome sitting up there.

Do you know the height of this commercial shell? I'm in the market to buy one similar, they come in 23" 26" 29" 36". The 23" model is cab high, but I measured my cab from the bed rails and it is 20" so the 23" one would be proud 3" over the cab. I'm looking at the 26" shell so 6" over the cab for added headroom while camping. I'm Having a hard time finding photos with heights called out. Thanks

Just buy one. You won't regret it. The DCU's are S-O-L-I-D. I regret selling mine now that I have a leaky and beat up SnugTop from the junkyard. If you want your truck to look all smooth like an SUV, get a SnugTop. Otherwise, buy the DCU that gives you the height you want to put stuff inside. The gas mileage is already crap and won't suffer from a difference in a few inches of a lightweight shell. :anonymous:

... but since you asked nicely and I archive *everything* in my life, here are the dimensions of my DCU shell pictured above (and also re-quoted below):

Nice! Yeah I totally agree, I had an ARE fiberglass shell on my 2009 tacoma and it leaked and had lots of stress cracks from taking it on and off. I got a quote of around $2,300 from ARE for their DCU shells. Definitely where I'm headed.

This build is excellent as well! Great use of the tall shell, It's a 26" DCU aluminum. Lots of usable headroom for camping.

There is an option to do "wedge design"...

In summary, the 23" is barely taller than the cab on the 1st gen.
On the 2nd gen (and probably the 3rd), it sits a bit higher because the bed sides are taller (bed is deeper?) as shown in the picture above.

If I were to have a 2nd gen with a roof rack on the cab, the 23" would "hide" perfectly behind that. I'd maybe even consider the 23-29" wedge design to get an extra 6" of height of space in the bed.
