This is my review of the Headstrong Off-Road HS2 coil.

While looking for OME 884 Coils to finish off my lift, I was approached by Marie and Robert at Headstrong Off-Road to use thier own brand equivalent, the HS2. The HS2 is stiffer than stock (600#) and is supposed to provide 2" of lift on a 4x4, similar to the OME 884. I agreed, picked them up, and installed them myself on Bilstein 5100's set at zero. My truck is a 2015 TRD OR DCSB Prerunner, so the following results may vary if you're running a different setup than mine.

    1. Initial impression - The coils are powder coated gun metal gray with no chips, dings, dents, scratches, or blemishes. They appear to be manufactured to a very high standard of quality.

    2. Ease of install - Using the floor jack method, the shocks and coils went in smoothly. I installed a 1/4" Taco lean spacer on the driver's side. I retained all other stock parts of the front suspension. The coils stand out nicely when paired with the silver Bilstein 5100's.

    3. Lift height gained with 2wd - Preinstall front measurements: DS 20.25"; PS 20.75". Post install from measurements: DS 23"; PS 23". This equals approximately 2.25" of lift on the Prerunner.

    4. Ride quality - Ride quality is much improved over stock. The combination of the HS2 coils and Bilstein 5100's is a winning one. The front of the truck feels more planted on the freeway and no longer 'floats' on concrete sectioned roads. Cornering at freeway speeds are similarly improved and body roll has been almost eliminated. I haven't had an opportunity to wheel, but I expect great things when I do!

    5. Settling height after some use - I've put almost 1000 miles on the truck since the install and the coils have not settled at all, but it's barely been a month. I'll report back after a year.

Overall, I'm very impressed. The coil's fit and finish, ride, and lift have all exceeded my expectations. I will definitely get these coils again when the current pair wear out. I would also heavily recommend them to any prerunner Taco owners for their lift packages. You won't be disappointed.

It also goes without saying that you should purchse any and all of your Taco suspension parts from Headstrong Off-Road. Marie and Robert are the best and will put a lift together that meets your needs.

Very nice,I used the 884's, same setup. Very happy, but my OCD would liked the gray coils. Headstrong is the best.IMG_0463.jpg

Stock, 265/70/16. When they wear out, I'm going bigger.

I think that's a nice choice. One other question, do you happen to have lift height numbers pre and post lift? I'm just curious about settling. Nice looking truck there!! :)

Update! 2,000 miles in and the front has settled 1/2" from the original install.

I'm at DS: 22.5" FS: 22.5". The rear is still at 23" on both sides. So that means 1/2" of rake.

The coils' powder coating is holding up well and is showing no signs of cracking or chipping.

The ride is stiff, solid, and I have no complaints what so ever!!

Hey @SocalTaco15 what spring option did you use in the rear on your setup? Looking to pull the trigger on this setup for my daughter's '13 prerunner. Marie I may be contacting you real soon!!!

Just a single Deaver 1-1/2" AAL. I'd suggest the headstrong 1-1/2" progressive AAL. The ride on the single is a bit rough.

So with the Deaver did you get 1 1/2" of rear lift as well? I know on the headstrong site they suggested the HS leaf setup and leaving out the helper spring. The goal for me is to end up with 2-2 1/2" front and rear. From your pics it looks like you ended up level, is that the case?

Sorry I didn't check back. It's pretty much level.

I installed a 1-1/2 AAL, plus the overload, which got me 2" in the rear. I'm also in a prerunner, with less weight up front, so I got a little more than 2" up front.

How are these holding up? Any type of settling yet? I'm thinking of pairing these with my maxtrac spindles.

After a year on the truck, I have next to no settling in the front. They are still at 23”, give or take an 1/8th of an inch.
