    Aloha TW,
I just installed my MX4 on my DCSB sport & had a question for you folks who have a MX4. When you open the tailgate does it freely drop down or do you have to assist the tailgate & pull the tailgate down? Just curious if thats the way the MX4 works & if I installed it correctly. Any feed back will be greatly appreciated.

I have the rugged cover 2 and buddy has the mx4, the tailgate on both opens as if the covers weren’t on.

I have an MX4 and it doesn't affect the opening of the tailgate in any way. Only contacts it for the first inch or so as you open it so I'm not sure exactly what you mean?

Thank you for the responses. You know how when you pull the tailgate handle & the tailgate drops down freely as there is no cover on. When I pull the tailgate handle with the cover on, the tailgate gets stuck from looks like the weather stripping of the ending of the cover. Then I have to pull the tailgate handle again, then the tailgate drops freely. Even when I shut the tailgate with the cover close, the cover lifts up a little. I just wanted to make sure this is normal or I installed it wrong.

Pretty sure the instructions for the 3rd generation state not to use weather stripping on the newer 3rd gen plastic tailgate cap. Your tailgate should fall freely even with the cover closed. You probably have a great seal, but one would wonder what that extra pressure over time would do to the little plastic tabs that actually hold the cover shut.

Sorry but I dont think I explaining it good. I have not added weather stripping of any sort. You know how without the cover, how you pull the tailgate lever to open it & it just drops down freely. Well with the MX4 closed, you pull the lever to open the tailgate & it pops open but the tailgate gets stuck on the way down. Then I have to pull the lever again, but the tailgate is already popped open, like the cover is resting on the tailgate, then when I pull the lever again, then it drops down freely. Its like the cover is positioned to far back, just a little. But the cover is pushed all the way up to the cab. IDK

Play around with it because mine didn't do that. Might need to adjust it. Take a picture of where it's lining up for us to better help you.
