Guess I'm supposed to post.

What to say? Just got my double cab short bed TRD off road pkg taco 2 weeks ago, went off-roading in the Sierras last 2 weekends, steep mountains and snow around Truckee and couldn't be happier. Still have an 85 4 runner w/ 300k on it, good thing about is we never worry about hurting it anymore, drive through solid brush to keep it pinstriped. Bad thing is once the transmission goes (and it keeps hinting at going) it's not worth putting anymore into it. Needed more reliability when going off road out to where you bring extra gas to make the trip.

Started to write about every truck and jeep that came before but edited myself.

Now, I wanted the same off-road capability as the old 4 runner and I wanted a truck and I wanted it to be fun, be comfortable for a truck on the long drive getting there, and then be ready for the less maintained dirt roads that we have out here.

Got mine with all the off road features I could find, bumped up some of the performance parts and security as we tend to take it to the end of the road then start packing from there. Don't plan to use it for rock crawling as a rule, but I know some of the best places in NV and Death Valley call for occasional crawling. Used the DAC first time out down a mountain, then let my wife do it, it is sooo cool. Not saying anything here that everyone already knows.

Next item would be a low priority, but I need to get Nerf Bars or running boards on it because my mum-in-law is 84 and still goes camping with us sometimes. I'll be lurking here, looking for tips. Already have read a LOT of posts. Comments on Nerfs, step nerfs and running boards are welcome. Things I'm weighing are how far away from the cab / below the door sill is a good distance, safety for an 84 year old using it, and what hidden benefits or problems come with picking one type over another.
