Does anyone know of any trails that aren't too crazy and that are scenic near ogden or Layton, UT or Grass Valley Nevada city, CA area? Also this will be in late December so I'm looking for snow. TIA

If you are interested in history and art, you might drive out to Golden Spike National [something] near Layton. I think the road to there is paved. From there you can drive to Spiral Jetty. I was on that road about 10 years ago; it is rough but entirely manageable in a stock 4runner or similar. With care you could probably get a rental sedan out and back (it is well known that rental cars places your own car would not). This is not a long trip, or especially adventurous. But is is a fun day outing and scenic. There is a hot spring around Tremonton where the road to Golden Spike heads off West.
